Commodity Manager implements a commodity procurement and inventory strategy that supports a company's manufacturing supply chain. Manages the policies and processes to purchase raw materials required to process and manufacture products, conduct research, or enable other business activities. Being a Commodity Manager monitors and analyzes the commodities market, global economic conditions, and events to make informed purchase decisions. Identifies, evaluates, and monitors suppliers and develops relationships to provide reliable sourcing and ensure the quality and availability of required commodities. Additionally, Commodity Manager oversees bidding and contract negotiations to obtain the best pricing to meet commodity needs. Analyzes inventory levels, manufacturing schedules, and long-term business objectives to plan and manage purchases. Ensures compliance with all applicable regulations and standards governing the purchase and delivery of goods. Requires a bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management or equivalent. Typically reports to a director. The Commodity Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Commodity Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Position Description

    ElectriCom, a Utility Construction company, was founded in 1960 in Paoli, Indiana. ElectriCom has experienced continuous growth since its inception.     The company is experiencing significant growth. As a result, material spend, and complexity is increasing and ElectriCom needs to manage its materials and warehouse more effectively moving forward. The Supply Chain organization is being developed within ElectriCom and will incorporate and expand the support and function of the existing Purchasing Department. Change in the capability and scope of the function is to be expected, and the Commodity Coordinator should be skilled and comfortable working within a fast growing and dynamic business environment. This full-time position location will be located at either the ElectriCom home office in Paoli, IN or the ElectriCom Regional Center Jeffersonville, IN (Louisville) locations.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Provide updated material pricing or establish new quotes to support the ElectriCom bidding process.
    • Update pricing and delivery information in the Vista (Viewpoint) materials management system
    • Proactively maintain delivery tracking and expediting process and provide delivery notification to internal users in a timely manner. Address delivery vs. required date disconnects to support the on-time delivery of materials to operations sites/field sites.
    • Provide updated delivery and material cost information to the Project Management team on a monthly basis in order to permit accurate job cost forecasting updates.
    • Support and/or perform weekly/monthly/quarterly Inventory audits
    • Ensure that Purchase Orders are placed and transmitted in a timely manner.
    • Assures that commodities/items/services are delivered to the quality, cost and delivery performance levels required.
    • Evaluate forecast and external supplier stocking/forward buy levels as applicable.
    • Assure that all incoming and outgoing material is accurately accounted for in the Vista (Materials/Construction) System.
    • Update inventory adjustments in Vista for Remote Warehouse(s) upon receipt of material transfer/use sheets.
    • Ensure that internal end-user requirements are known and met.
    • Ensure that all operations, customer, and safety requirements are met for ordered items.
    • Ability to listen to stakeholder’s needs and propose solutions, as well as receive feedback on proposed solutions.
    • Ability to connect and communicate in a cross-departmental fashion using plain and concise language.

    Position Requirements

    • Work Experience: 3 years or greater of relevant experience in a construction or manufacturing environment or in a warehouse or shipping department.
    • Intermediate level Microsoft Excel knowledge, including formula creation and the ability to create and modify supplier spend reports to permit effective bid and supplier inflation analysis.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Experience in utility construction industry is not required but learning and embracing the industry is a must.
    • Experience with supply base and spend categories is not required but learning the industry cost and supply dynamics will be required. Key commodities include fiber-optic cables, plastics HDPE parts/extrusions, electrical hardware, resins.
    • Travel to remote warehouses or suppliers may be required. Less than 15% travel anticipated.
