Sr. Software Engineer
  • Point of Rental Software
  • Fort Worth, TX FULL_TIME
  • Job Description
Point-of-Rental is a 41-year-old company founded in 1983 and the leader in rental management software. We have a large, happy customer base and we are expanding our team to better meet the growing needs of our customers. Our company prides itself in a culture where everybody has a voice, and respect and friendship are key tenets of our success! We have grown tremendously by acquisition and embracing the cloud tech stacks including AWS, Google, and Azure services. This position offers all the benefits of an established company with the perks of a start-up as we continue to push the envelope into cloud and AI. We also love to play prototypical non-software games in and out of the office like ping pong, pool, darts, ax throwing, escape rooms, video games, softball, soccer, video-games… so we are like you whoever you are!
We are looking specifically for a Software Engineer that can be the champion of our public facing API and our microservice architecture.  This person would have a well worn utility belt that shows a high level of expertise with tools like NodeJS/Express, API Gateway (AWS), GraphQL, and RESTful API architecture as well as (ideally) angular frontend framework experience. They would likely be allergic to poor API documentation and find it absolutely necessary to maintain well versioned and backward compatible endpoints (SwaggerHub). Since we are generally a fullstack team, there is always the option to pick up other stories as desired. You will interface with a wide-array of other dev and product teams who collaborate with your team to extend all of our platforms. We think this role will greatly improve our team's ability to continue producing cutting edge innovations for the rental industry!
    Responsibilities
You will be part of the core team that is responsible for building and improving our next-gen cloud based public facing API and micro-application/micro-service architecture. This will require strong communication skills in order to effectively communicate with our other products and also to our customers via simple and bulletproof API documentation. It also means that there is plenty of room to grow and seek other adventures as our company is rapidly growing to meet the needs of our customers. You should be comfortable with a full stack as you will often interact with the underlying API’s that come from different environments like C#, Native, PHP, MySQL, SQL Server, Amazon AWS, Angular and Ionic.

    Required Experience
    • 5 years of relevant work experience
    • Strong Knowledge of API Architecture Best Practices
    • AWS Gateway, Lambda, S3 or similar micro service architecture platforms
    • Experience in Efficient Database Design Standards
    • Fluent in Node.js and Javascript generally
    • API Documentation and Testing tools (SwaggerHub)
    • A helpful and team-oriented type of person who keeps up with the latest industry changes.
    Preferred Experience
    • Experience with NestJS / Objection JS / JSON Schema / Angular/ NGRX
    • Fluent and articulate in TypeScript. (Yes, this includes Observables)
    • Agile / Scrum
    • GraphQL (connecting multiple similar APIs together)
    • Measuring and Improving API Performance
    • Log aggregation and analysis

    Location: US Remote

    Job Type
Full-Time, Exempt. Base salary benefits, 100% 401K matching (up to 4%). Comprehensive training.

Pay Transparency: The base pay range for this position is $100,000 to $125,000 per year The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, experience and training, skills, licenses and certifications, and education among other factors.
