Purpose Provide production and support for food preparation, which includes but is not limited to cooking, stocking, rotating, serving, and maintaining products within University Housing and Dining (UHD). Responsibilities Greet and interact with customers in a professional and upbeat manner. Serve a high-quality product during open dining hours. Products may include performing short-order or made-to-order cooking while providing excellent customer service. Ability to read, follow, and understand recipes. Break down and clean all serving areas and equipment, and properly store, label, and date leftover food items from the serving/dining area. Take and record temperatures and ensure cleaning and detail cleaning tasks are completed throughout the shift. Set up, stock, clean, and replenish the serving area during your shift in compliance with location and food safety guidelines. Monitor, stock, and rotate inventory items. Inventory of items in dry storage area, cooler/freezer, and/or beverage stations. Collect and document production records before, during, and after service. Complete other tasks as assigned. Effectively communicate with customers and coworkers. Seek direction at beginning of the shift and keep open communication with management and staff throughout the shift. Required Qualifications Experience working and preparing food in a restaurant, commercial, or institutional facility. Experience with operating standard kitchen equipment. Ability to complete and maintain University Housing and Dining Food Safety Training and/or ServSafe. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate. Preferred Qualifications Six months or more of experience working and preparing food in a restaurant, commercial, or institutional facility. Customer service experience in a high-volume food service operation. Ability to multi-task and work with little supervision. Salary Range $18.00 hourly depending on qualifications Working Conditions Uniforms and/or personal protection equipment (furnished) May work in all weather conditions May work in extreme temperatures May work around chemical fumes May work around biohazards May work around chemicals May work around electrical and mechanical hazards Use of manual dexterity Climbing of stairs Climbing of ladders Lifting and moving up to 62 pounds Pushing, pulling, and moving up to 50 pounds The successful candidate must successfully complete testing for strength and agility prior to employment. Work Shift Workdays, area, and work hours may vary based on the needs of the unit and University Housing and Dining (UHD).
