Collateral Appraiser conducts commercial real estate appraisals and property ratings to establish the market value generally used for investment guidance, lending, insurance, or other purposes. Follows standard processes for conducting and documenting on-site property inspections. Being an Collateral Appraiser performs data collection and research on building permits, prior assessments, and relevant market and economic conditions that impact property value. Reviews building plans and specifications and investigates the quality of the construction, the overall condition of the property, and the surrounding location. Additionally, Collateral Appraiser uses generally accepted appraisal practice concepts and practices to perform data analysis, develop valuation estimates, and write comprehensive reports and exhibits. Utilizes appraisal software tools and databases. Ensures that reports comply with required policies, formats, and regulations. May require a bachelor's degree. May require the Member of the Appraisal Institute (MAI) or similar designation. Requires a State Appraiser License. Typically reports to a manager. The Collateral Appraiser occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function.     Our Staff Appraisers are responsible for accepting and completing market value residential property appraisal orders including traditional, hybrid and desktops according to Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP) guidelines, federal and state appraisal laws, and specific client directives ensuring that quality and quantity guidelines are met and that the conclusions reached in the report are credible and supported.  This role also completes real estate appraisals within a defined territory from non-complex to highly complex assignments. Responsible for data management including collection, verification, and analysis of sales, pending sales and listings, as well as maintaining other information required for the valuation process. Work in a team environment to accomplish production and service goals and consistently meets or exceeds customer service expectations.
     
    Responsibilities:
    • Complete real estate appraisals that are compliant with Federal and State laws, as well as being done in accordance with Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP) in a timely fashion meeting turn time requirements
    • Provide exceptional customer service while ensuring the highest level of appraisal quality
    • Represent Class Valuation with the highest level of ethics, integrity, and confidentiality
    • Collaborate with internal customers to ensure seamless customer service
    • Submit proactive status updates at the order level and responds to all calls/emails/texts in a prompt and professional manner
    • Complete training and conference calls as required
    • Complete other management directed tasks 
    Required Job Related Skills and Experience:
    • Certified Residential or Certified General Appraiser in good standing
    • FHA Approved appraiser in good standing, preferred
    • A minimum of 3 years of experience in completing residential real estate appraisals
    • Ability to act independently and consistently make appropriate decisions with minimal guidance and oversight
    • Working knowledge of MS Office and databases
    • Broad residential knowledge of properties and market factors within the geographic area of competency
    • Consistently and independently handles all aspects of the job well within a defined territory
    • Working knowledge of MS Office and other computer databases.
    • Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
    • Consistently meet key performance indicators and communicate openly with management and other partners within the company
