Coding Compliance Specialist researches and develops the pre-certification insurance policy standards and criteria used by case management and utilization reviewers that will ensure that requested medical services are appropriate and medically necessary. Collaborates with medical professionals to resolve questions about policy development and standards. Being a Coding Compliance Specialist assigns correct ICD, CPT, or other coding assignments for medical procedures that support policy standards in claims systems. Provides expertise and solutions to users regarding the appropriate coding for claims. Additionally, Coding Compliance Specialist has broad knowledge of medical coding systems. May require an associate degree in healthcare administration, a related field, or equivalent. Requires AAPC Certified Professional Coder (CPC). Burlington Housing Authority (BHA) in Burlington, VT is seeking a full time Leasing and Program Compliance Specialist in our Rental Assistance office. The Leasing and Program Compliance Specialist's primary duties are waitlist selection, screening for program eligibility, gathering information for Property Managers to screen for tenant suitability, coordinating lease-ups and processing tenant move-in and move-out files, and monitoring vacancies. This position is the point of contact for all MOR, Tax Credit, and HOME audits, gather all required documents for audit, coordinate with the property manager and inspection for those audits, and respond to any findings from those audits.
Candidates must be a high school graduate or an equivalent and have three years previous office experience. Candidates should have proficient computer skills, including windows-based word processing, spreadsheet and database use. Knowledge of MOR, HOME, tax credit, and Multifamily Housing is preferred. Experience in federally assisted housing programs or property management preferred.
Must possess outstanding organizational skills, strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously. Must be adept at fostering positive and collaborative relationships with staff, residents, vendors and community agencies alike and be sensitive to the needs of low-income households, elderly and disabled individuals.
