Cloud Systems Architect is responsible for the design and management of an organization's cloud systems, applications, policies, and strategy. Evaluates and identifies the best cloud solutions for the organization. Being a Cloud Systems Architect develops and modifies scalable architecture to support applications and infrastructure-as-a-service (IAAS) and platform-as-a-service (PAAS) platforms. Ensures the security and compliance of cloud environments, including data protection and privacy. Additionally, Cloud Systems Architect monitors and analyzes cloud infrastructure performance to identify and resolve issues proactively. Collaborates with cross-functional teams to optimize cloud-based environments for performance, scalability, and cost-effectiveness. Designs controls and processes that utilize available audit tools. Maintains up-to-date and extensive knowledge of cloud products and technology. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Cloud Systems Architect works autonomously. Goals are generally communicated in "solution" or project goal terms. May provide a leadership role for the work group through knowledge in the area of specialization. Works on advanced, complex technical projects or business issues requiring state of the art technical or industry knowledge. Systems Engineer

    SAIC is seeking an organized and motivated Systems Engineer who will work effectively in a fast-paced environment. You will be part of a collaborative team of engineers and support technicians working to bring a variety of mechanical designs from the early concept stage all the way through fabrication. 

    This position is contingent upon award news anticipated in late 2023/early 2024. 

    More on the Role: This job requires a broad engineering skillsets, well-developed work habits, and an eagerness and enthusiasm for solving engineering challenges. Your projects will include the design, documentation and testing of a wide array of systems in the areas of undersea defensive systems, torpedo test equipment, Automated Test Equipment (ATE), system design, and other evolving tasking.

    Location: Work is performed both on site and allows for remote/work at home. The on-site work is at 28 Jacome Way, Middletown, RI, and/or the Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC) Division Newport.

    Work Schedules: Flexible work schedule options are also available. If desired, engineers may partake in SAIC’s 9/80 schedule to have every other Friday off or a 4/10 schedule if desired.

    The System Engineer's activities and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following tasks:

    • Providing system-level engineering support and expertise to a cross-functional team.
    • Providing preliminary solutions to engineering problems of moderate scope and complexity in an expeditious, efficient, and timely manner.
    • Identify and apply current and emerging Digital Engineering practices, methods, and tools to address our sponsor and partners' most pressing challenges.
    • Apply knowledge and principles of agile acquisition, architecture design, system integration, risk assessment/management, and other systems engineering disciplines to support recommendations to address these challenges.
    • Employ rapid prototyping and technical recommendations to inform sponsor and partner capability requirements and decisions.
    • Collaborate with platform partners to contribute to greater practice of MBSE and DE across the enterprise.
    • Authoring and maintenance of technical documentation, such as Requirements Specifications, Concepts of Operation, Product and Performance Specifications, Interface Control Documents, Compliance Matrices, Qualification Test Plans, Procedures, and Reports.
    • Development and documentation of engineering processes and standards in support of customer requirements.

    Qualifications

    REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

    • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline from an accredited college or university and two (2) years of related experience; Master's degree in an engineering discipline from an accredited college or university; Years of experience accepted in lieu of degree. 
    • Must have an understanding of Model-based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
    • Must have experience with DOORS / DNG.

    CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:

    • Must be able to initially obtain an Interim Secret Clearance and then obtain and hold an Active Secret Clearance for the duration of work on the contract.

    DESIRED EXPERIENCE:

    • Python, Microsoft Power BI, SharePoint.
    • Data Science techniques and tools.
    • JavaScript / HTML5 Web Development.
    • Electro-mechanical hardware design and engineering.
    • Experience with the marine environment and naval operations and systems.
    • Experience with applications and tools such as Cameo Enterprise Architect, Matlab, Simulink Modular Open System Architecture (MOSA), Microsoft office suite.
