CLINICAL OUTCOMES MANAGER manages the collection and analysis of clinical outcomes data to develop clinical process improvement initiatives. Oversees staff who gather data on performance metrics and facilitates the review of clinical program effectiveness. Being a CLINICAL OUTCOMES MANAGER provides advanced analyses and reports on clinical outcomes data. Evaluates and summarizes patient data to ensure that care is provided in accordance with clinical guidelines and organizational standards. Additionally, CLINICAL OUTCOMES MANAGER identifies areas for improvement and assists leaders/physicians in developing strategies to improve performance. Requires a bachelor's degree in nursing or healthcare related area. May require a Registered Nurse (RN) license. Typically reports to a director. The CLINICAL OUTCOMES MANAGER typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a CLINICAL OUTCOMES MANAGER typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience.     Position Summary

    Under the general direction of the Director of Quality Improvement, the Manager of Clinical Outcomes supervises, monitors, and evaluates the Clinical Outcomes program, coordinates and integrates Utilization Management staff and Clinical Outcomes direct care staff. The Manager of Clinical Outcomes is also responsible for training and supervising Clinical Outcomes staff and for consumer and systems advocacy.

    Position Duties (Not all Inclusive)

    • Adheres to regulatory agency requirements with respect to infectious disease and hazardous materials.
    • Verbalizes understanding of Life Safety Plans
    • Utilizes Standard Precautions as required in the performance of job duties
    • Provides day to day supervision, for all Clinical Outcomes staff, including: consultation, guidance, direction, resource identification, problem resolution, seeking input and approval from Director when necessary.
    • Coordinates, implements, and monitors the Clinical Outcomes Program.
    • Assists Clinical Outcomes staff to develop mediation and intervention strategies and implement these strategies to resolve conflicts.
    • Consults with and receives guidance and direction from the appropriate Medical Staff regarding case management recurrent problems, issues with a potential financial impact, medically related issues, real or potential quality of care issues, and other member issues as deemed appropriate.
    • Responsible for the completion, or delegation of completion, of Agenda and content for Clinical Outcomes Committees.
    • Consistently demonstrates a willingness to assist co-workers in the completion of daily tasks or special projects to support the Department's efficiency.
    • Monitors and manages Clinical Outcomes staffing, appropriate to hospital census and utilizes time management system.
    • Understands necessity for cost control in use of supplies
    • Clarifies instructions received, if question arises
    • Is receptive to constructive guidance/criticism

    Qualifications


    • Required: Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
    • Required: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Social Work, Nursing, or other Health related field.
    • Required: Four (4) years related experience; OR an equivalent combination of training, education, and work experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.
    • Required: At least one (1) year of experience in a leadership role.
    • Required: Knowledge of Case Management principles, procedures and practices and familiar with the concepts of the Collaborative Clinical Outcomes model.
    • Preferred: Clinical Case Management (CCM) certification.
