CLINICAL OUTCOMES MANAGER manages the collection and analysis of clinical outcomes data to develop clinical process improvement initiatives. Oversees staff who gather data on performance metrics and facilitates the review of clinical program effectiveness. Being a CLINICAL OUTCOMES MANAGER provides advanced analyses and reports on clinical outcomes data. Evaluates and summarizes patient data to ensure that care is provided in accordance with clinical guidelines and organizational standards. Additionally, CLINICAL OUTCOMES MANAGER identifies areas for improvement and assists leaders/physicians in developing strategies to improve performance. Requires a bachelor's degree in nursing or healthcare related area. May require a Registered Nurse (RN) license. Typically reports to a director. The CLINICAL OUTCOMES MANAGER typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a CLINICAL OUTCOMES MANAGER typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience.     Position Summary:


    This position is responsible for the management, direction, and training of assigned Accounts Receivable Workgroup. This position is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations for EDI rejections and insurance follow-up. 


    Key Results Areas (KRAs):

    • Actively participates in the development and ongoing review of productivity and quality standards for all workgroups.
    • Manages EDI rejection resolution. 
    • Manages outstanding A/R to ensure maximum reimbursement with minimal write-off adjustments. 
    • Create and analyze A/R metrics. 
    • Maintains relationships with internal and external clientele. 
    • EHR/PM  expertise and ability to create technical solutions to resolve breakdowns.
    • Create and revise policies and procedures for the departmental area.
    • Supports staff with additional tasks as needed.
    • Actively participates in process improvement efforts.
    • Manages departmental staff schedules ensuring effective staffing support levels.
    • Ensures staff is trained on work processes, and is cross-trained.
    • Ensures staff is engaged and demonstrates professionalism.
    • Ensures UCH policies and procedures are implemented and followed.
    • Serves as an effective resource for staff.


    Requirements

      

    Core Competencies 

    • Strong analytical, oral, and written communication skills.
    • Familiarity with health insurance and other third-party billing practices and guidelines.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook.
    • Knowledge of basic medical coding and third-party operating procedures and practices.
    • Previous management experience preferred. 
    • Demonstrates a commitment to providing high levels of dedication and quality.
    • Demonstrates the ability to work both independently as well as with a team concept. 


    Education & Experience:

    • High school diploma or equivalent required
    • 3  – 5 years of experience in a medical office working with insurance claims processing involving CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10CM, and CMS regulations required
    • Familiarity with CMS1500 and UB04 claim form completion required
    • NextGen and/or Epic experience preferred.
    • Previous  A/R third-party management experience required. 
    • Previous management experience is required.
