Clinical Outcomes Analyst, Sr. collects clinical outcomes data and performs analysis in support of clinical process improvement initiatives. Responsible for gathering advanced data on performance metrics to facilitate the review of program effectiveness. Being a Clinical Outcomes Analyst, Sr. evaluates and summarizes patient data to ensure that care is provided in accordance with clinical guidelines and organizational standards. Identifies areas for improvement and communicates findings to leadership. Additionally, Clinical Outcomes Analyst, Sr. requires a bachelor's degree in nursing or healthcare related area. May require a Registered Nurse (RN) license. Typically reports to a manager. The Clinical Outcomes Analyst, Sr. work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. High Performance Computing - Sr Systems Analyst

  • The Sr Systems Analyst on the High-Performance Computing team is a pivotal role within the IT Engineering Department in operationalizing critical infrastructure initiatives for MD Anderson’s Research environment. The Sr Systems Analyst assists in managing, planning, building, and optimizing end-to-end Research Computing environments, as well as partnering with Research application teams to manage & build traditional HPC and Kubernetes systems for production use by our research customers.

    The Sr Systems Analyst role requires working collaboratively with Researchers and Institutional leaders across the enterprise. It involves utilizing effective communication to promoting better understanding of Research Computing facilities at MD Anderson. The Sr Systems Analyst partners closely with teams across MD Anderson, including Enterprise Development & Integration and Oncology Care and Research IS departments in the build out and delivery of research computing systems.

    Research Computing Infrastructure Engineering – End-to-End Solution Delivery  
    1. Communicate/Participate End-to-end solution delivery that improves Research Computing capabilities and realizes discovery value across the Research environment.  End-to-End solutions include design and build out of the High-Performance Computing and Kubernetes infrastructures as well as other tools for the Research Computing environment.
    2. Lead/Communicate/Participate in the planning, architecture, analysis, design and build of end-to-end data Research Computing solutions in partnership with IS, Research Governance teams, other research collaborators for efficient end-to-end management of MD Anderson Research Computing environments.
    3. Plan/Communicate/Participate in incorporating repeatable solution designs for building, optimizing, standardizing, and validating the Research Computing environment. 
    4. Explore and promote innovative and modern tools, techniques, and architectures to automate the most-common, repeatable, and tedious tasks partially or completely to minimize manual and error-prone processes and improve productivity.

    Standards, Testing and Maintenance  
    1. Coordinate and adhere to standard operating procedures set by IS division as well as all MDA policies and maintain build standards for support of MDA Research Computing environment.
    2. Participate in documentation preparation as needed for the implementation of enhancements or new technology.
    3. Adhere to documented change control processes and may perform change control audits.
    4. Communicate & perform quality control and testing and review the build of other analysts to ensure that solutions are technically sound.
    5. Assist in monitoring application health and/or creates customized maintenance routines to keep the Research Computing systems healthy.
    6. Communicate and execute the adherence to regulatory requirements, quality standards and best practices for systems and processes, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
    7. Assist in leading and/or participate in after-hours application support and downtime procedures.

    Educate and Train   
    1. Coordinate, promote & train counterparts, such as research scientists, research data analysts, end users or any research consumers with use of the Research Computing systems and tools.
    2. Provide institutional, department and one-on-one training for research community.
    3. Coach and provide advice, guidance, encouragement, constructive feedback and transfer knowledge to less experienced team members across OneIS and the institution.
    4. Assist in managing liaison relationships with customers and OneIS to provide effective technical solutions and customer service.

    Education Required: Bachelor’s degree.

    Certification Required: None

    Preferred Certification: One or more of the following: Red Hat Certified Technician (RHCT), Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE), Red Hat Certified Datacenter Specialist (RHCDS), Red Hat Certified Architect (RHCA), CompTIA A , HP Accredited Systems Engineer (ASE), VMware Certified Professional (VCP), and/or VMware Certified Design Expert (VCDX)

    Experience Required: Five years’ experience in analysis/design/project management/programming.  May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one basis.

    Preferred Experience: The required experience plus three years supervisory experience.
    - Experience with HPC/Kubernetes
    - Experience with installation, configuration & maintenance of system applications such as LSF, Slurm, Bright Cluster manager, and/or Kubernetes including a good working knowledge of compute cluster scheduling.
    - Experience with writing and debugging shell, Python, or other scripts.
    - Experience with the installation, configuration & maintenance of Open-Source applications such as GCC, Pytorch, R various Open Source Next Gen Sequencing apps such as Tophat, Samtools, etc.
    - Working knowledge of GPFS and NFS storage systems.
    - Experience with, RedHat Linux, SUSE Linux, Ubuntu, or VMware ESX is also preferred.
