Clinical Facilities Planning Manager manages professional services for assigned projects concerning design, construction, development, or installation of hospital buildings and facilities. Oversees all aspects of construction including progress, timing, costs and contracts. Being a Clinical Facilities Planning Manager directs construction, equipment installation, renovation and redesigning projects. Works with hospital departments to ensure design changes, equipment specifications/substitutions, purchasing and accounting procedures are in alignment with business objectives. Additionally, Clinical Facilities Planning Manager develops and designs feasibility studies for review. May require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to senior management. The Clinical Facilities Planning Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Clinical Facilities Planning Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.   • Under the general direction of the Associate Dean for Strategic Initiatives and Operations, Facilities Planning Manager (FPM), for the School of Dentistry has three primary areas of responsibility: (1) Building management, maintenance, and repairs of all SoD facilities, including the Venice Dental Center;; (2) Facilities planning, construction and renovation projects; and Technical Services Management; (3) Technical Services Management.

    (1) The building management and facilities functions involve overseeing and managing the day-to-day facilities-related operations of the School and the Venice Dental Center, its building systems, and physical structures, including, but not limited to offices, clinics, classrooms, teaching and research laboratories, and common areas. The FPM also provides Facilities-related assistance to the faculty practice located in the Medical Plaza 100 Building. In addition, the FPM handles, plans, coordinates, and oversees major and/or minor capital improvements/renovation projects in the School. The FPM manages facilities data regarding the School and its structures, systems, and infrastructure for purposes, including but not limited to, construction/renovation projects and strategic planning, space inventory, and equipment inventory, and accreditation. Additionally, the FPM leads the emergency plan, and works with Medical School and other Campus resources, to provide and coordinate emergency plan training, and implementation.

    (2) As part of the Technical Services Management functions, the FPM directly supervises various operations under the Facilities Planning Office, such as the Technical Repair Contractor, and oversees and indirectly supervises other Facilities operations, including but not limited to, the Mail & Copy Services, the School Surveillance System, the Audio/Visual Systems, and the Key System. The incumbent also oversees the scheduling of classrooms and teaching laboratories in the School. The FPM directly supervises the staff member in charge of the operations of the third and fourth floor laboratories.

    (3) As the building manager for the Venice Dental Center, an offsite community clinic operated by the School, the FPM is responsible for addressing and responding to Facilities-related issues, including but not limited to maintenance and repair issues, telecommunication issues, and construction/renovation projects. The FPM serves as the point person for building services such as custodial, security, and landscaping, review and change scope of work as necessary, and compliance enforcement.

    (4) As part of Other Duties, the FPM may be assigned various School projects, as needed or requested by the Dean or Associate Dean for Strategic Initiatives and Operations.

    Knowledge of construction/renovation planning techniques and scheduling, especially for interrelated and sequential projects.

    Demonstrated understanding of campus, facilities, and system-wide capital planning/construction/design organizations and processes.

    Working knowledge of building mechanical systems, including, but not limited to HVAC, pneumatic, hydraulic, electric, and plumbing to assess minor issues and communicate findings to the appropriate trades.

    Working knowledge of architectural and construction processes, including plan specifications, bidding processes, cost and budget estimates, space analysis. Understanding of architectural, MEPs and construction drawings and plans to communicate potential issues as it pertains to the School's operation.

    Ability to interface and work cooperatively with campus professionals and vendors and to serve as an effective liaison for the School on facilities and construction related matters.
