Clinical Ethicist offers guidance to patients, their families, and professional staff on ethical, legal and policy issues and concerns stemming from clinical interactions between health care professionals and patients. Provides guidance to the institutional ethics committee pertaining to policy formulation and educational and case review activities. Being a Clinical Ethicist develops institutional policies concerning ethical issues such as "do-not-resuscitate" and "withdrawal of life-support". Requires a master's degree or doctorate related to health ethics. Additionally, Clinical Ethicist typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. To be a Clinical Ethicist typically requires 4 to 7 years of related experience. Contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project. Work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. The Clinical Social Worker LCSW will have the opportunity to join an innovative team of individuals and work at their 300 bed Magnet designated teaching hospital.
Responsibilities of the Clinical Social Worker LCSW will include assessing a patient's psychosocial needs, developing individualized treatment plans, and providing external resources or referrals as needed. The Clinical Social Worker is also accountable for completing all written reports in a timely fashion, maintaining patient records as required by law and Medical center policy, and continuously cross-collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, case management, and external providers as needed.
This health system is actively interviewing candidates for the Clinical Social Worker LCSW, so the facility requires that the Clinical Social Worker LCSW already holds or is in the process of obtaining their New Jersey LCSW licensure. Additionally, the Clinical Social Worker LCSW will have previous experience working in either an inpatient or outpatient setting. To ensure a smooth transition into this role, the Clinical Social Worker is bilingual with the ability to communicate with patients in English and Spanish.
