Identifies professional development needs, facilitates training, and conducts in-service sessions. Being a Clinical Educator conducts research to stay current with health care regulations and best practices. Requires a bachelor's degree. Additionally, Clinical Educator requires certification as an instructor for both ACLS and BLS. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Clinical Educator/Continuing Education Nurse Planner

Orientation
Participate in the initial orientation of all employees by collaborating with members of the Education Department regarding schedules, offering orientation sessions, and accompanying new employees in Home Hospice and/or the Inpatient Center to educate about best practices, utilization of protocols, documentation, and use of resources.
Develop and assure timely and satisfactory completion of competencies for each new clinical employee in collaboration with designated clinical staff. Assure ongoing documentation and maintenance of individual competency records.
Assist in the development and updating of presentations and materials to correspond to current practices and assure consistency across the organization.
Continuing Education
Assist in planning and developing education based on the staff needs assessment and individual requests as identified by other departments. This includes sessions that provide continuing education contact hours.
Responsible for complying with PSNA and other provider requirements to secure contact hours, including, but not limited to, development of learner outcomes, oversight of marketing materials, maintenance of activity logs, creation and distribution of attendance certificates, and summary and distribution of evaluation results.
Assist the Primary Nurse Planner in complying with PSNA requirements to maintain HCC provider unit status including, but not limited to, drafting the Annual PSNA Provider report, maintaining records as mandated, and participating in on-site and other surveys by accrediting institutions.
Staff Development
Provide individual education and visits with staff, after completion of formal orientation, to assure best practice, correct use of protocols and use of resources and to assure practice and documentation are meeting the needs and requirements of the organization and governing bodies.
Develop and present educational programs as determined to be needed and approved by Director of Education.
Provide additional, individual education to improve documentation for clinical staff as requested.
Assist with the development, presentation, and hands-on competency of Annual Review.
Maintain clinical resources for staff. Address staff requests for educational materials/resources in a complete and timely manner.
Qualifications
Must be a licensed RN in Pennsylvania
BSN required
Hospice experience required.
Must be certified in Hospice and Palliative care or be certified within a year from hire date.
Experience will include demonstrated mastery of the skills needed to educate/mentor staff, including superior organization, communication, documentation and clinical skills.
Able to develop effective presentations and speak in small and large group settings.
Must excel in verbal and written communication skills; be able to write in the English language, motivate and lead, and to work cooperatively with other staff.
Computer capability to utilize Suncoast, Power Point, Microsoft Word, TalentLMS and databases.
