Clinical Educator is responsible for developing and delivering training programs for clinical health workers. Identifies professional development needs, facilitates training, and conducts in-service sessions. Being a Clinical Educator conducts research to stay current with health care regulations and best practices. Requires a bachelor's degree. Additionally, Clinical Educator requires certification as an instructor for both ACLS and BLS. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Clinical Educator occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. This Clinical Nurse Specialist will join an established team on the oncology unit to assist with managing complex patient care, assist in patient education, utilize evidence based practice to ensure highest quality standards of care are upheld, collaborate with all members of the unit team to foster professional performance and continuing education, and teach/guide patients and their families through disease processes, medications, surgeries, treatments, and long term expectations.
It is required that this Oncology Nurse Edcuator has a BSN as well as a Masters as a Clinical Nurse Specialist (Nursing Education) and an active NYS RN license. This RN Educator should also have previous clinical experience in an oncology unit (ideally with oncology education experience in an acute care setting).
