Clinical Educator is responsible for developing and delivering training programs for clinical health workers. Identifies professional development needs, facilitates training, and conducts in-service sessions. Being a Clinical Educator conducts research to stay current with health care regulations and best practices. Requires a bachelor's degree. Additionally, Clinical Educator requires certification as an instructor for both ACLS and BLS. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Clinical Educator occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function.     In the role of a clinical practitioner, educator and consultant; develops and implements nursing techniques designed to improve patient care.  Makes decisions related to staff development based on identified needs.

    Registered Nurse Roles and Responsibilities:

      1. Establish, implement, and evaluate a continuing orientation and teaching program for all assigned service personnel.
      2. Adopt the general staff education orientation program to respective Patient Care Services Orientation
      3. Provides input to modify unit orientation and expectations according to unit needs and hospital accreditations, if applicable.
      4. Identify individual learning needs in collaboration with each staff member and provide continuing education program to meet these needs.
      5. Provide staff with the information concerning pertinent conferences and programs to meet educational needs to foster staff participation.
      6. Guide and support individual staff members in adjusting to respective unit expectations.
      7. Provides direct and/or indirect care to a specialized caseload of patients
      8. Consults with nursing staff to develop, implement, and evaluate care plans for particular patients and families.
      9. Potentially serves as a participating member of committees to assist in establishment of guidelines and delineating standards of nursing practice.
      10. Develops and conducts internal and external formal educational programs.
      11. Applies appropriate current theoretical concepts to implement changes in nursing practice within the institution.

    Required Skills & Qualifications:

    • Licensed to practice in the State of Indiana as a Registered Nurse.
    • Masters’ degree in Nursing preferred, with at least with at least 2 years nursing experience in specified area.
    • Maintains current CPR, Instructor status preferred.
    • Demonstrates leadership potential through the capacity for independent discriminative and creative, evidence-based thought, judgment, and action.
    • Works cooperatively and collaboratively with other nurse clinicians, staff nurses, and other educational personnel and resource personnel.
    • Candidate must be enthusiastic, organized, team centered attitude, ability to motivate others, and prioritize work needs.
    • Demonstrates mid-level understanding of Microsoft Office (Windows, Outlook Calendar, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), EPIC software applications and Learning Management Systems.
    • Possesses above average presentation, written and oral communication skills
    • Car and current Indiana State driver’s license required.
