Identifies professional development needs, facilitates training, and conducts in-service sessions. Being a Clinical Educator conducts research to stay current with health care regulations and best practices. Requires a bachelor's degree. Additionally, Clinical Educator requires certification as an instructor for both ACLS and BLS. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Clinical Educator occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Supporting a robust Education program, the Inpatient Nurse Educator will have the opportunity to develop and support some of the hospital's most critical educational programs. Beyond the standard BLS and orientation schedule, this Educator will have the opportunity to specialize their knowledge and spend time with the departments and patient service concepts that interest them.
This is a great role for an experienced Inpatient RN or Nursing Supervisor who's worked in Medical Surgical, Telemetry, Emergency, or Critical Care Nursing. Many Nurse Educators find this is a great path toward leadership or management. The right person may be able to make a higher base by taking on the Medical Surgical Supervisor role in addition to unit-based Education.
