Summer Clinical Supervisor

  • The Rhode Island School for Progressive Education (RISPE) seeks part-time summer Clinical Supervisors for our Elementary Accelerated Teacher Certification. The responsibilities of this role are as follows:

    • Support candidates in the Elementary Accelerated Teacher Certification program:
    • Become familiar with RISPE curriculum and evaluation protocols
    • Perform three observations with candidates (whole class, small group, one-on-one conferring each time), including a debrief.
    • Include reflection on professional attitudes & dispositions
    • Support the Coordinator of Certification Programs and Director of Academics in the administration of the Elementary Accelerated Teacher Certification program
    • Determine observation windows and communicate scheduled observations with candidates
    • document all candidate interactions, share documentation with Coordinator and Director
    • Participate in evaluation of candidate, with coach and Director, to recommend candidate for certification

    Clinical supervisors may take on multiple candidates per year. This program will run from July 2024 to early August 2024. Pay for this position is $600 per candidate for the summer. This position requires in-person observation and debriefing.

    The Rhode Island School for Progressive Education (RISPE) is Rhode Island’s first residency-style graduate school of education. RISPE was developed over four years with generous support from the Rhode Island Foundation and the United Way of Rhode Island, and received unanimous approval from the Rhode Island Council on Postsecondary Education in March 2019. RISPE’s goal is to improve outcomes for all students in Rhode Island’s urban public schools by diversifying the teacher pipeline, employing an anti-racist curriculum, and using best practices that have been piloted and proven in public schools across the region to train and prepare highly effective teachers for Rhode Island’s urban public schools.
