As the Manager of Database Administration, you will be responsible for overseeing the database administration operations for our managed services portfolio. You will lead a team of skilled professionals, collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, and drive continuous improvement initiatives to ensure the efficient management and performance of client databases. Your expertise in database administration, team leadership, and customer relationship management will contribute to the success of our managed services division.

Together with:

• Oversee the day-to-day operations of the database administration team, ensuring the efficient management and optimization of client databases.
• Develop and implement database administration best practices, standards, and processes to ensure data integrity, performance, and availability.
• Collaborate with clients, internal teams, and external partners to understand database requirements, design solutions, and resolve complex database-related issues.
• Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement performance tuning strategies to optimize database operations.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of database administrators, providing guidance, coaching, and support to ensure their professional growth.
• Set performance objectives, conduct performance evaluations, and identify training and development needs to enhance the team's capabilities.
• Foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment, encouraging knowledge sharing and continuous learning.
• Plan and manage staffing requirements, resource allocation, and workload distribution within the database administration team.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, acting as a trusted advisor and primary point of contact for database administration-related matters.
• Collaborate with clients to understand their database needs, provide proactive support, and ensure customer satisfaction.
• Conduct regular customer reviews, address any concerns or escalations, and implement strategies to enhance customer experience and retention.
• Identify opportunities for upselling or cross-selling additional services to customers and collaborate with sales teams to drive revenue growth.
• Analyse database administration processes and workflows, identifying areas for improvement and implementing best practices to drive operational efficiency.
• Monitor database performance metrics and KPIs, track trends, and implement corrective actions to optimize database performance and reliability.
• Collaborate with product management and engineering teams to provide customer feedback and contribute to product enhancements and roadmap planning.
• Stay updated with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in database administration to drive innovation and continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including sales, product management, and engineering, to align database administration strategies with business goals and customer needs.
• Engage with external partners and vendors to ensure effective collaboration and resolution of database administration-related issues.
• Participate in cross-functional meetings, projects, and initiatives to represent the database administration function and provide insights and recommendations.

In combination with:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field. MBA or advanced degree is a plus.
• Proven track record of leading and managing database administration operations, ensuring data integrity, performance, and availability.
• Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop high-performing teams.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building

• 8 years of experience in database administration, with a focus on managing enterprise-level databases in a managed services environment.
