Job Description: Dickinson Surgery and Endoscopy seeks a receptionist to join their team of committed staff members in Iron Mountain, Michigan. This position is responsible for providing exceptional care of patients while in a medical office setting. The ideal candidate is warm and welcoming and able to accommodate patients, visitors, physicians and physician staff by providing surgical preparation instruction to patients, in addition to maintaining and adjusting schedules as needed.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Welcome patients and visitors to the practice in-person or on the telephone, asks appropriate questions to determine purpose of call/visit, and directs call/visitor to the appropriate staff. Maintain effective and professional communication with hospital staff, patients, and visitors at all times. Obtain complete and accurate patient demographic information and input into computerized systems in order for patients to obtain hospital services and the business office to efficiently bill and collect from the correct payer(s). Complete insurance verifications. Schedule, confirm, cancel and/or reschedule appointments. Thoroughly complete chart for upcoming patient visits. Collect payments at the time of service. Provide surgical preparation instruction to patients. Follow policies, procedures, directives and compliance standards established by practice and supervising staff. This position reports to the Practice Manager.

WAGE/BENEFITS: $15.50 – $17.71 per hour starting pay based on experience. In addition, the position offers health insurance benefits, sick paid time off, vacation (2 weeks vacation after probation which increases to 4 weeks of vacation after the first year of employment) and 401K retirement plan with employer contribution (up to 4% company match).

WORK SCHEDULE: This is a full-time position Monday through Friday, 8:00 am - 4:00 pm, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm, or as assigned. The Clinic is open 9:00 am -4:00 pm.

MINIMUM AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent, required. Previous experience in a healthcare business environment such as reception, customer service, or patient billing preferred. Working knowledge of medical terminology or medical office procedures preferred. Proficiency with computer data entry required. Ability to maintain and promote a professional appearance and positive attitude in the work environment and to the public. Exceptional customer service skills with a professional demeanor that ensures trust, competence and compassion amongst patients, visitors, and team members. Ability to successfully pass a pre-hire drug screening and background check.

They are independently contracted with Marshfield Medical Center-Dickinson County Healthcare System. Their office is located on the 3rd floor of the Marshfield-Dickinson County Healthcare System Medical Office Building in suite 305.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.50 - $17.71 per hour

Expected hours: 37 – 40 per week
