    SUMMARY
    The Director of Operations for Northwest Eye and Minnesota Retina Associates is responsible for overseeing the strategic and operational aspects of clinical services and patient access across all Northwest Eye and Minnesota Retina locations. The position recommends and leads the strategy (both short and long term) as well as implementing, measuring, and improving processes, procedures, and services. This includes day-to-day management of multiple clinics and lines of service, providing necessary leadership and direction to assure high quality, safe, cost effective, and profitable patient care.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Develop, establish, and oversee clinical, optical, and patient access operating policies and procedures, ensuring consistency with practice goals, mission, vision, and values.
    • Prepare and manage operations P&L’s and financial results.
    • Prepare special reports and analyze statistics and data as necessary.
    • Measure and compare UVP’s performance against industry benchmarks.
    • Proactively promote an environment of accountability and performance measurement.
    • Identify performance problems and develop strategic ways to seek resolution.Ensure compliancewith internal policies and procedures as well as with state and federal laws, third party payer regulations, and other pertinent safety, quality, and regulatory bodies.
    • Facilitate productive and collaborative communication between physicians/providers, management, and all team members. Address and participate in provider relations activities, including CGB meetings and administration.
    • Monitor patient satisfaction and patient feedback for implementing continuous operational improvement.
    • Participate in short and long-range planning and the development of organizational goals, strategic plans and objectives.  Evaluate opportunities and recommend capital and efficiency improvements.
    • Facilitate implementation and integration of growth initiatives, including but not limited to facility expansion and new service lines.
    • Ensure appropriate staffing including hiring, orientation and performance evaluations, training, coaching and counseling of team members. Participates in provider recruitment.
    • Monitor provider schedules striving to balance patient loads, accessibility for patients to sub-specialty providers, wait times (to get on schedule and to be seen on day of scheduled appointment), and company resources (team members, space, equipment).
    • Maximize office productivity through proficient use of appropriate software applications and systems, effective utilization of resources and delegation of duties.
    • Promote and endorse teamwork.
    • Maintain professional affiliations, enhance professional development, and help to facilitate external relationships to keep current in the latest health care trends and to develop positive coordinated care efforts.
    • Partner with support service teams (revenue cycle, ASC) to optimize practice success.
    • Act in a manner of integrity which is consistent with UVP’s core values, demonstrating respect for the company and its team members, while maintaining a constant focus on meeting and exceeding patient expectations.

    LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITY
    Responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of department and team members.  Carries out leadership responsibilities in accordance with UVP's affiliated practice's protocols, policies and applicable laws.  Includes, but not limited to, budget preparation, monitoring, and analysis, recruitment and hiring activities, performance management including annual reviews, coaching, counseling and discipline, team member training and development, timecard approval, plans, assigns and directs work, pay recommendations, addresses issues and concerns, facilitates conflict resolution, and models UVP's code of conduct and core values at all times.

    • Patient Access Manager
    • Resource Allocation Specialist
    EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
    • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • At least 5 years’ experience in a similar role; multi-site experience a must.
    • Experience or knowledge of ophthalmology, optometry, or ambulatory surgery centers is preferred, but not required.

    • Knowledgeable of electronic practice management and electronic medical records systems to leverage systems and processes.
