    Position Description
    The Clarkston Community Health Center is seeking a dynamic, team-oriented, driven leader for our clinical team who thrives working in diverse environments and is looking for a unique opportunity to grow and nurture a new model of healthcare in our community.  As a clinical nurse practitioner or medical doctor experienced in both clinical care and community-based healthcare administration, the person we are seeking will be culturally humble, clinically compassionate, patient-centered, strong as a communicator and focused on providing excellence and beauty in the clinical care and business operations of the clinic.
     
    The Clinic Director - reporting to the Executive Director - is a full-time position that is a critical part of the management team of the organization that will oversee and ensure the overall success of the clinic, fulfilling a number of critical duties for CCHC.  As the lead medical officer at the clinic, the Clinic Director will see patients, supervise our nurses and doctors who see patients, set a culture of effectiveness and efficiency, and work to continually improve our quality, depth and breadth of care.  As a thought partner with the Executive Director, the Clinic Director will help provide strategic guidance on the strategic issues facing the organization, helping to build out a sustainable, highly functional, trust-based team. Duties include:
     
    Clinic Leadership and Administration:
    • Help put together a plan for growth and then execute the plan and lead the on-site clinical team (staff and volunteers), supervising a high quality, committed team to excellence by establishing a culture of trust, accountability, clarity of roles, and strong communication.  Build a model of healthcare that is patient-centered, holistic, and culturally humble.  
    • Ensure cultural competency of staff and volunteers, and adherence to core values of CCHC.
    • Lead all aspects of ensuring the clinic is run efficiently and effectively, including managing all clinic inventory, setting up strong patient-clinic communication systems, setting up and managing strong in-clinic operations to maximize the number of patients we serve.
    • Oversee / maintain EHR for grant writing and quality improvement projects.  Supervise students requesting research opportunities.
    • Refine and maintain all clinic SOPs.  
     
    Patient Care:
    • Provide direct care to patients in clinic.
    • Oversee paid and volunteer clinicians (NPs, PAs, MDs) in their clinical work and provide guidance and advice on patient care
    • Sign off on charts and periodically review charts for quality control
    • Work to steadily increase the number of patients we see weekly
    • Build quality control systems to ensure continual improvement
    • Work to receive the Seal of Approval from NAFC for CCHC based on the standards and criteria set forth by NAFC
    • In coordination with the ED, set and oversee clinic budget and related business administration tasks to ensure money is managed properly and efficiently.  
    • Create and manage a clinical services coverage schedule to include appropriate staff and volunteer capacity of physicians, nurses, a scheduler, and a translator as available for each clinic session.
    • Oversee all clinical services provided, review labs and charts, orient new medical volunteers, provide teaching services to medical students and resident physicians.
    • Oversee monitoring and evaluation systems for the clinic’s programs and impact.
    • Support the Executive Director in management of finance, non-healthcare related partnerships, grants management, and other duties as assigned.
    • In coordination with the ED, help build and maintain strong HR processes for hiring, onboarding, evaluating, off-boarding, etc.  Ensure strong positive culture among team with particular attention to insuring high employee retention rates and ongoing employee and volunteer appreciation opportunities. 
     
    Partnership Development:
    • Lead on deepening existing partnerships and establishing new partnerships in order to: leverage additional volunteers for the clinic in order to provide a unique and excellence medical and nursing school student experience.
    • Maintain strong vendor relationships with medical suppliers.
    • Grow partnerships with clinical partners (like the Harriet Tubman Women’s Clinic).
    • Strengthen partnerships with metro area healthcare facilities.  
     
    Qualifications:
    • Nurse practitioner or M.D.
    • A minimum of 2-4 years of experience in health care and/or health care administration, preferably in a community clinic.
    • A minimum of 3-5 years of clinical experience.
    • Master’s degree in healthcare administration preferred.
    • Track record of successful operational and administrative management.
