    JOB TITLE:   

    Computer Programmer/Data Scientist 

    JOB PURPOSE:

    As a Computer Programmer for Data Science at Wyoming Sensory Biology Center, the candidate will play a vital role in coding, developing, implementation and maintaining data science applications and systems. The candidate will collaborate with data scientists, neuroscientist and researchers to implement solutions that drive insights and decision-making processes.

    This position is grant funded and considered at-will employment.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Write, test, and maintain code for data science applications and tools. Collaborate with data scientists to translate their algorithms and models into functional software.   
    • Develop data pipelines to ingest, clean, and preprocess data from various sources. Ensure data quality and integrity throughout the data processing workflow.   
    • Document code, workflows, and data processes for reference and knowledge sharing. Collaborate with team members to maintain clear and organized code repositories.    
    • Achieve project objectives within assigned time frames and resource allocations.
    • Work closely with data scientists, analysts, and other stakeholders to understand their coding needs and provide technical support, training.

    REMOTE WORK ELIGIBILITY: 

    This position provides vital support to campus customers and requires the successful candidate be available to work on campus.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  

    Education:  Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field

    Experience: 2 years work-related experience in computer programming

    DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:  

    • Bachelor's (BA) or Master's (MS) degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
    • Proficiency in programming languages of Python and R.
    • Strong coding and software development skills.
    • Familiarity with data manipulation libraries (e.g., Pandas) and version control systems (e.g., Git).
    • Solid problem-solving and debugging abilities.
    • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
