DESCRIPTION:
Duties: Create architectural designs for solutions spanning multiple applications. Create product roadmap for planning phases and transitions from legacy to modern replacement applications. Evaluate proposed cloud solutions, advising teams to select public and internal services to achieve the required resiliency, performance, security, and cost optimization. Write infrastructure as code to provision and configure cloud resources according to the target solution. Configure continuous integration pipeline to build, test, and deploy the cloud solution and accompanying software artifacts. Review designs with stakeholders and subject matter experts to meet industry requirements and firm-wide quality standards. Refine solutions as directed to meet business requirements. Document designs with detailed rationale, including architectural diagrams that depict the solution according to industry standards. Review solutions with senior architects, proposing amendments or exceptions to firm-wide standards to accommodate the target solution. Identify and extract reusable portions of the solution and submit for inclusion to an internal repository to inform and accelerate the development of future solutions with similar requirements. Train new team members on the efficient use of tools to be effective participants in the evaluation, design, implementation, and deployment of target solutions. Telecommuting permitted up to 40% of the week.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum education and experience required: Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems or related field of study plus 5 years of experience in the job offered or as a Cloud Architect, Software Developer, IT Consultant, or related occupation. The employer will alternatively accept a Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems or related field of study plus 3 years of experience in the job offered or as Cloud Architect, Software Developer, IT Consultant, or related occupation.
Skills Required: Requires experience in the following: Application and software development using Java, .NET, or other modern object oriented programming languages and frameworks; Defining target state architectures; Developing transition plans for achieving target state; Evaluating cloud vendor service capabilities and limitations by writing and deploying infrastructure as code; Evaluating suitability of proposed cloud architectures based on detailed requirements; and Writing detailed technical articles.
