Being a Claims Analyst maintains updated records and prepares required documentation. Assists in controlling the cost of processing claims. Additionally, Claims Analyst contacts policyholders about claims and may provide information regarding the amount of benefits. May require a bachelor's degree or its equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Claims Analyst gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Responsible for processing small claims according to internal and industry guide-
lines and ensuring accurate reporting and data analysis for information submitted to
management and regulatory authorities. This position requires strong attention to
detail and reasoning ability.

Responsibilities
» Enter initial claims information and issue acknowledgment letters to claimants and
insureds; ensure archival of all documents.
» Monitor and generate reports by collecting and analyzing information.
» Analyze small first-party claims to determine validity of denial/recovery options.
» Conduct legal and industry research when necessary to support claims payments
or denials.
» Clearly and concisely document all actions taken to resolve claims within the
claims recovery system.
» Responsible for monitoring, generating, and analyzing claims data and presenting
reports and analysis to management.
» Coordinate the subrogation of all small claims.
» Establish claims file reviews process to assist Claims Manager.
» Other duties as may be assigned.
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree with business experience preferred, or two (2) or more years of
past insurance claims experience may substitute. High school diploma required.
Licensing Requirements
Claims adjusters license is required within the first year of employment.
