Civil Engineering Supervisor supervises a team of civil engineers who design and develop construction projects such as airports, bridges, channels, dams, railroads, and roads. Ensures maintenance of equipment and adherence to safety prevention measures. Being a Civil Engineering Supervisor monitors personnel needs and schedules staff accordingly. Also responsible for preparing proposals, establishing completion dates and cost estimates, and evaluation results. Additionally, Civil Engineering Supervisor requires a bachelor's degree in engineering. Typically requires the Certified Professional Engineer (PE) credential. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Working team member that may validate or coordinate the work of others on a support team. Suggests improvements to process, is a knowledge resource for other team members. Has no authority for staff actions. Generally has a minimum of 2 years experience as an individual contributor.     Duties/Responsibilities:

    • Planning and design of community water, wastewater, and solid waste infrastructure.
    • Design of water and wastewater treatment systems.
    • Design of piped water distribution and sewage collection systems.
    • Design of wastewater pump stations.
    • Design of solid waste facilities.
    • Writing reports/studies, including evaluation of alternatives and cost estimating.
    • ADEC plan review checklists/ permit applications.
    • Construction administration services (submittal reviews, periodic inspections, etc.).
    • Other related duties as assigned.

    Required Skills/Abilities:

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Thorough understanding of civil engineering concepts and practices.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Familiarity with UFC, IBC, and IFC and local code and other site development design criteria.

    Education and Experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering required
    • Licensed professional engineering license in Alaska or Washington or ability to obtain it within 6 months of hire.
    • Proficient AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Microsoft Office products.
    • Excellent written and verbal skills.
    • Ability to work in a team environment with multi-discipline engineering staff at various experience levels.
    • Desire to mentor junior staff to develop capabilities and career goals.
    • Ability to market the firm’s and individual’s capabilities to expand client base and enhance relationships with current clients.

    Physical Requirements:

    • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
    • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
    • Must be able to travel to various project sites.
    • Must be able to access and navigate job sites and construction areas.
