Civil Engineering Supervisor supervises a team of civil engineers who design and develop construction projects such as airports, bridges, channels, dams, railroads, and roads. Ensures maintenance of equipment and adherence to safety prevention measures. Being a Civil Engineering Supervisor monitors personnel needs and schedules staff accordingly. Also responsible for preparing proposals, establishing completion dates and cost estimates, and evaluation results. Additionally, Civil Engineering Supervisor requires a bachelor's degree in engineering. Typically requires the Certified Professional Engineer (PE) credential. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Working team member that may validate or coordinate the work of others on a support team. Suggests improvements to process, is a knowledge resource for other team members. Has no authority for staff actions. Generally has a minimum of 2 years experience as an individual contributor.     Alta Science & Engineering, Inc. is currently accepting applications from qualified candidates for a Civil Drafter position to be based out of any of Alta’s offices (Moscow, Kellogg or Boise, Idaho). This position supports a variety of civil and environmental engineering consulting projects. The successful candidate will be self-motivated, organized, personable, and detail-oriented. This is a Regular Full-Time (40 hrs/wk) benefited position.


    Responsibilities May Include:

    • Work closely with engineers to develop drawings, maps, and other figures.
    • Generate detailed drawings and maps using AutoCAD, GIS, and other software.
    • Conduct field work such as taking measurements and verifying utilities.
    • Assist with preparing portions of project deliverables (e.g., technical reports, memoranda, design documents, and bid packages) to communicate design methods, technical justification, and project status to clients, contractors, etc.
    • Maintain a high degree of professionalism during interactions with Alta staff, clients, and other stakeholders, as applicable.
    • Provide timely communication with supervisor regarding work-related matters.
    • Actively promote good Health and Safety practices at all times.


    Required Qualifications:

    • Associate degree in civil drafting or similar
    • Experience preparing construction documents for government projects.
    • 2 years’ experience civil drafting including earthwork, grading plans, utilities.
    • Understand coordinate systems and importing data to CAD software.
    • Proficiency with AutoCAD / Civil 3D
    • Strong organization skills and attention to detail
    • Valid driver’s license with insurable driving record


    Desired Qualifications:

    • Experience developing and managing databases (Access and similar software)
    • Experience with various public agencies drafting standards.
    • Software proficiency certificates
    • 40-Hour or 24-Hour Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response Training (per 29 CFR 1910.120) with current 8-hour refresher training
