Civil Engineer designs and supervises construction projects such as airports, bridges, channels, dams, railroads, or roads. Reviews designs, tests and assesses materials, and performs necessary data collection and calculations in areas such as traffic forecasting, soil capacity, groundwater analysis, and structure design. Being a Civil Engineer responsibilities also include estimating costs, estimating personnel and material needs, preparing proposals, and establishing completion dates. May also assist in inspecting aging infrastructure or overseeing improvement projects. Additionally, Civil Engineer requires a bachelor's degree in engineering. May require a Professional Engineer License (PE). Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Civil Engineer work is closely managed.   • About This Role:

    Cardinal is seeking a Professional Civil Engineer to join our dynamic and growing team. As a Professional Civil Engineer, you will use your expertise to help deliver exceptional detailed designs, coordinate multiple projects at one time, and supervise, coordinate, and review the work of designers and CADD technicians working the same projects.

     

    Responsibilities:

    As a Professional Civil Engineer, you will:

    ·         Developing detailed designs.

    ·         Doing feasibility assessments and site inspections.

    ·         Preparing and implementing project plans.

    ·         Researching and providing estimates for projects.

    ·         Analyzing long range plans, survey reports, maps, and other data to plan and design projects

    ·         Work with project management team to identify challenges and develop and implement solutions

    ·         Supervise, coordinate, and review the work of a team of designers and CADD Technicians working on the same assigned project

    ·         Coordinate with the contractors and sub-contractors

    ·         Reviewing government regulations and ordinances.

    ·         Monitoring and optimizing safety procedures, production processes, and regulatory compliance.

    ·         Making recommendations or presenting alternative solutions to problems.

    ·         Confidently liaising with clients and other professional subcontractors.

    ·         Project management duties (e.g., managing budgets, resources, and deadlines; acquiring and compiling quotes, etc.).

    ·         Process day-to-day site information such as Submittals, RFI's, and Shop drawings

     

    Qualifications:


    EDUCATION: A Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering required. An advanced degree is preferred. 


    EXPERIENCE: Minimum of five years of civil engineering experience with at least two years of management experience. Capacity supporting executive-level management is required.

     

    KNOWLEDGE OF:

    • Carlson Civil Suites – IntelliCAD, preferred
    • Design software such as Autodesk, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and MicroStation
    • Map creation software and photo imaging software.
    • Industry standards of design
    • Client communication and customer service via email, phone, or in-person
    • Government, Commercial and Residential Projects        

     

    ABILITIES:

    ·        Must have good written and verbal communication skills.

    ·        Must be highly motivated with the ability to work independently and with a team.

    ·        Must have essential requirements: professionalism, punctuality, and reliability.

    ·        Must possess strong attention to detail and an intense level of accuracy.

    ·        Must write detailed reports and estimates.

    ·        Must analyze site plans, project plans, blueprints, maps, and charts.

     

    CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES:

    ·        Valid driver’s license with insurable record

    ·        Professional Engineer License

     

    Physical Requirements:

    The physical demands described herein are representative of those that an employee must meet to perform the essential function of this job successfully:

    ·        Must be able to lift and carry or otherwise move 25/50/80 pounds regularly/occasionally

    ·        Must be able to drive a vehicle safely regular/occasionally

    ·        Must be able to work in inclement weather conditions.

    ·        Must be able to deal effectively and reasonably with stress in the workplace without lost time or undue strain

    ·        Must be able to sit, walk, talk, and hear for extended periods of time

    ·        Must be able to type/key-in data and answer telephones frequently as needed

    ·        Must have specific vision abilities including close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to focus

    ·        Must be able to see and respond to dangerous situations

    ·        Must be able to wear personal protective gear regularly/occasionally

    ·        Physical ability work including bending, squatting, reaching, stretching, sitting, standing, running, and climbing stairs

    ·        Must adhere to company policies, safety plan, and the project safety plan
