Civil Engineer jobs in Arkansas

Civil Engineer designs and supervises construction projects such as airports, bridges, channels, dams, railroads, or roads. Reviews designs, tests and assesses materials, and performs necessary data collection and calculations in areas such as traffic forecasting, soil capacity, groundwater analysis, and structure design. Being a Civil Engineer responsibilities also include estimating costs, estimating personnel and material needs, preparing proposals, and establishing completion dates. May also assist in inspecting aging infrastructure or overseeing improvement projects. Additionally, Civil Engineer requires a bachelor's degree in engineering. May require a Professional Engineer License (PE). Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Civil Engineer work is closely managed.     Responsibilities

    Additional requirements and position responsibilities include:

      Management of land/site development projects, including technical design, quality control, and project management
    • Business development activities and assignments concentrated in a specific target area
    • Project client interface
    • Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) interface
    • Financial management of projects
    • Working with the team to set goals to meet business objectives
    • Complete Civil design drawings using AudoCAD Civil 3D software
    • Travel to job sites
    • Field investigations and documentation under general supervision of Project Manager
    • Construction related services including meeting attendance, shop drawings reviews, responses to RFI, scheduling and coordination with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ), scheduling and coordination with job site contractors
    • Arkansas (ADH, ADEQ, ArDOT) design code experience required
    • Northwest Arkansas (Bentonville and Fayetteville) design code experience required
    Qualifications
    • PE in Arkansas, or ability to obtain license within 12 months of hire date
    • BS in Civil Engineering (MS a plus)
    • 3 years of relevant project experience (5-8 years of experience strongly preferred)
    • Experience managing civil/site development projects
    • Experience leading the civil design efforts for public works or site development projects
    • Sound technical design background
    • Excellent communication, verbal and written, and organizational skills
    • Thorough knowledge and understanding of local and U.S. design codes and standards
    • Related local experience preferred
