Childbirth Educator provides instruction and education to patients planning to give birth. Presents curriculum in a group setting. Being a Childbirth Educator reviews class material and recommends changes based on educational standards. May assist in developing new content. Additionally, Childbirth Educator may require a bachelor's degree in a related area. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Childbirth Educator occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Unit/Schedule
- Childbirth Education
- Per-diem, 36 hours in 6 week schedule (minimum)
- 12-hour rotating shift 7a-7p and 7p-7a
Minimum Education and Experience:
- Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the District of Columbia - preferred
- Graduation from an accredited program for Registered Nurses - preferred
- Graduation from a certification training seminar of at least 18 hours duration within the specialty area hired to teach, required.
- Exempt from certification requirement if employee has met the requirements for classes to be taught through previous experience and education
- AHA CPR card
- 3 years Maternity Nursing and/or Childbirth Education experience

Waldorf is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in Charles County, Maryland, United States. It is 23 miles (37 km) south-southeast of Washington, D.C.
