Shriners Children's is the premier pediatric burn, orthopaedic, spinal cord injury, cleft lip and palate, and pediatric subspecialties medical center. We have an opportunity for a PRN Child Life Specialist in our Shreveport, Louisiana location.
The Child Life Specialist is responsible to work with children, from infancy through adolescence, in a family centered care environment. This position provides services in our busy outpatient clinic. The position requires strong skills in child development, assessment and planning, psychosocial support, procedural support and preparation, group leadership, volunteer supervision and goal directed play. The PRN typically will work 3-5 days every two weeks, with a schedule from 7:30 a.m. - 4 p.m on our busiest clinic days. In this position, you'll get the opportunity to assist children in coping positively with procedures such as cast removal and application, blood draws, joint aspirations and more.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Child Life, Child Development or related field
Certification/Licensure
Completion of an approved internship under a Child Life Specialist and eligible to sit for the CCLS certification exam and completion of the exam within one year of hire.
Experience
One year’s experience in a hospital child life program preferred
