Child Life Specialist is responsible for the design and implementation of pediatric programs, therapies, and activities among young patients. Works with families to assist in caring for childhood hospitalizations or disabilities. Being a Child Life Specialist monitors child development to ensure normal progression. Provides in-depth care as needed to more urgent cases. Additionally, Child Life Specialist may require a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. To be a Child Life Specialist typically requires 0-2 years of related experience. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. Work is closely managed. Job Summary:
Responsible for bringing in donations from the drop off donation area at shop and placing them in designated areas. Maintaining order in sorting areas, for safety.
Duties/Responsibilities:
1) Morning Shift – Open gate at Reagan Street and bring in all donations to sorting area. Take items for outside to front by 10:00AM. Unlock street trash bin.
2) Afternoon Shift – Bring in all donations from front of shop. Shut and lock Reagan Street gate at the close of business. Lock outside street bin.
3) Set aside and take all new items and other appropriate items to auction room, as needed.
4) Place recycled items in appropriate areas.
5) Keep all walkway areas clean and safe.
6) Help prepare for special sale events, as directed by Shop Coordinator, Director or Executive Director.
7) Dispose of boxes not needed by sorter, cutting/breaking down and placing in bin.
8) Help sorters move heavy baskets into store, as needed.
9) Help customers move large items to vehicle, as needed.
10) Give donors their receipt; do not send donors inside for receipt.
11) Coordinate with Thrift Shop Coordinator regarding disposal of excess shop inventory.
12) Do minor maintenance, as requested (i.e. change light bulbs, furnace filters, fix broken shelves, etc.).
13) Empty inside and outside shop trash to dumpster at the end of each day.
14) Must get approval from Executive Director, before any overtime can be worked.
Required Skills/Abilities:
● Good communication skills.
● Donation management and brand names recognition.
● Familiar with merchandise pricing.
