  • Summary:

    Under the general direction of the Ahtna Netiye CEO the Chief of Staff (COS) must ensure the smooth operation of the office of the CEO by planning and directing all administrative, financial and operational activities. In collaboration with the executive team, provide strategic, timely advice and guidance to the Ahtna Netiye’ CEO to ensure success in the overall management of Ahtna Netiye’ operations. This position will be a member of the Ahtna Netiye’ senior leadership team and will have overall accountability for assigned strategic projects/initiatives that are designed to deliver results. This position requires balancing and influencing multiple competing priorities and individuals as well as building and maintaining relationships with the subsidiary presidents, Ahtna, Inc. executive team members, key stakeholders (Ahtna, Inc. Management Team, Subsidiary Operations Management Team members), employees and shareholders. The COS is accountable for the central coordination of all functions and activities of the Ahtna Netiye’ CEO’s office. Additionally, the COS has oversight for all ongoing projects/initiative supporting the Ahtna Netiye’ CEO’s agenda to ensure that all are effectively moving according to plan objectives, established milestones and measurement criteria.



    Essential Duties & Responsibilities :

    • Provide direction and clarification to subsidiary presidents and executive team members the CEO’s directive and intentions about the following; strategic and tactical context, expectations around quantity, quality, time, and resources around current issues/assignments, executive follow-up, coaching and course correction, subsidiary presidents team expectations and tasks
    • Be a central point of contact for the coordination of the CEO’s activities and ensure preparation of relevant documents and briefing material
    • Develop a good understanding of current issues and be able to provide timely advice to the CEO
    • Accompany the CEO to various events and travel as required
    • Establish excellent working relationships with key stakeholders, including the subsidiary presidents and executive team, Ahtna Netiye’ Executive Committee, and when necessary, Ahtna Incorporated Board of Directors
    • As directed, manage Ahtna Netiye’ Executive Committee communications within Ahtna Netiye’ and subsidiary operations
    • Resolve high-priority issues on behalf of CEO regarding
    • Coordinate Strategic Planning; Long range planning and the annual Ahtna Netiye’ budget with Ahtna Netiye’

    Minimum Qualifications :

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or a related field
    o Experience as an executive member of an organization may be substituted for the degree requirement on a 1:1 basis (four years of additional experience for total degree replacement.).
    • A minimum of eight (8) years of progressively responsible supervisory and leadership experience in business and/or corporate environment that demonstrates ability to meet core competency requirements listed in the next section.

    Experience must include:
    • Senior executive level leadership for a complex organization with multiple companies, subsidiaries, and/or service lines.
    • Federal contracting experience; and
    • For-profit organizational experience
    • Experience and knowledge of Alaska Native cultures and ANCSA and related legislation
    • Professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, speaks clearly and persuasively in positive and negative situations to the public, professional staff, business community and government officials at all levels.
    • Work effectively within a diverse community.
    • Demonstrated accuracy and thoroughness. Able to clearly organize thoughts and articulate vision to others.


    Preferred Qualifications :

    • Project Management Professional certification
    • Comprehensive understanding of ANSCA and the history and role of Ahtna, Incorporated and its subsidiaries
    • Ability to obtain and maintain US Government Clearances for company and contracts
    • Ten (10) years or more experience in a related executive leadership role.

    Work Schedule : 40 hours per week or as operational/business needs dictate

    Physical Demands:

    • Frequent lifting, sitting, standing, stooping for prolonged periods of time, using hands/fingers requiring dexterity, should have good hand-eye coordination and motion control in coordination with handling tools, equipment and other related components
    • Reaching with hands and arms for items above and below sight level, talking, hearing, and seeing (up close, at a distance, along the periphery, with depth, color perception, and the ability to adjust focus); walking from place to place within the project location with occasional use of stairs and no elevator available; bending, pushing, pulling, and standing for up to 10 hours.
    • Frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds such as small electrical components, equipment and other materials.
