Chief Radiologic Technologist oversees radiologic services, maintains technical aspects of radiologic safety and evaluates accuracy and quality of X-rays. Schedules work assignments and coordinates requests for radiologic services. Being a Chief Radiologic Technologist recommends new equipment, equipment modification, and crucial construction within the department. May perform duties of radiologic technologist as needed. Additionally, Chief Radiologic Technologist requires an associate degree in radiology. Requires American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) - (R). Typically requires State License based on Clinical Specialty. Typically reports to a manager or director. The Chief Radiologic Technologist manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Chief Radiologic Technologist typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     HCHD Radiology Department provides a broad range of services to aid in the screening, diagnosis and treatment of medical conditions and emergent injuries. A few responsibilities of Radiologic Technologist include: 

    • Operate x-ray equipment to make radiographs of designated portions of the body.
      • Under supervision, your role performs x-ray, CT, and ultrasound imaging on patients, assess patients throughout, and responds to the patient’s needs as appropriate.
      • Your role will serve patients in the emergency department, hospital, and outpatient settings who are in need of services. 
      • Make a positive difference in the lives of patients every day 
      • You will perform procedures in accordance with established protocols for patients ages neonate through geriatric. 
      • Your role will be responsible for maintaining expert technical and patient-care skills and providing quality diagnostic results. 
       

    Experience/Education/Licensure/Certifications: 

    • Current registry by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists
      • Current Texas License or Certified as a Medical Radiologic Technologist
      • Current Basic Life Support (BCLS) verification course, as specified in policy 
      • Graduated from an AMA-approved school of Radiologic Technology 
      • Prefer one year of experience in an Imaging Department 
      • CT Experience required 
      • Ultrasound experience is strongly preferred but not required. 
    • Must maintain all licensure/certifications and BLS certification as a condition of employment.


    Minimum Experience, Abilities Required and Special Requirements:

    •  Previous experience in Direct Patient Care in a hospital setting.
    • Expertise in utilizing radiological equipment and software.
    • Outstanding diagnostic and communication abilities.
    • Keen focus on detail.
    • Capability to work independently and collaboratively within a healthcare team.
