  • Coral Academy of Science Las Vegas’ Chief Operating Officer will be an inspiring leader and communicator with substantial educational experience in charter, public, or private school settings. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Chief Operating Officer is responsible for overseeing the organization’s ongoing operations and procedures. The Chief Operating Officer is responsible for inspecting the efficiency of business and for enhancing the internal organization processes and infrastructure that will allow CASLV to continue to grow and fulfill its mission. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of attaining exemplary operation results.

     

    The Chief Operating Officer is a key member of CASLV’s senior leadership team with the following specific responsibilities:

     

    • Ensure performance management and substantial professional development opportunities for all campus and central operations staff.
    • Respond to inquiries for interpretations from Central Office staff on matters not clearly covered by regulation, policy or legislation.
    • Serve as point of contact for school principals to address any operational needs
    • Support the site directors in leading staff to provide high-quality and financially compliant goods and services, including procurement, transportation, and other key areas.
    • Oversee the Schools’ Risk Management and Safety Program that includes protection of assets, emergency/disaster preparedness, safety in the workplace, hazardous material handling, accident prevention, and indoor air quality and personal protective training against health risks.
    • Represent CASLV as needed to resolve operational issues with external parties, including legal counsel, charter board, state, etc., as well as liaising with the governing board.
    • Support the site leaders in leading facilities’ staff and vendors in routine maintenance of sites, user support, as well as planning and implementing a comprehensive capital improvement program.
    • Represent CASLV as needed in matters of leased or owned properties, including negotiating leases, acquiring real estate, and resolving operational matters that arise in such endeavors.
    • Monitor and evaluate the construction process in terms of bonding, capital outlay, facilities planning, and renovation.
    • Act as liaison with the Board, other divisions of the school system, and other agencies and organizations on matters related to facilities, construction management, transportation, and maintenance.
    • Oversee the Central Office’s Child Nutrition Program to include menu selection, meal production planning and scheduling, procurement, adherence to nutrition and sanitation regulations and requirements, and appealing presentation on the serving line while operating as an enterprise fund.
    • Oversee the Central Office’s Technology Department, which is responsible for developing and implementing computerized systems to include intermediate and long-range planning for the acquisition, installation, and maintenance of technology, as well as establish and maintain a Central Office-wide business continuation plan. Manage overall use and implementation of technology.
    • Oversee the Grant Application program.
    • Serve as a member of the CEO’s Cabinet. Attend all board meetings.
    • Serve as CEO’s designee in hearing grievances.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

     

    1. Bachelor's degree in business or related field. Masters’ Degree is preferred.
    2. At least four years of strong operational experience, preferably in an educational environment.
