    Salary Range: $175,000 - $225,000 annually. Salary will be dependent upon multiple factors. 

     

    Summary: The Chief Operating Officer (COO) will play a critical role in driving the strategic direction and operational excellence of our firm.  The COO will work closely with the CEO, the CFO, and the executive leadership team to drive operational performance, execute the current strategic plan, influence future strategic plans, and contribute to the long-term success of the company.  

     

    Essential Functions: 

    • Operational Strategy & Oversight
      1. Develop and implement effective operational strategies aligned with the company’s overall goals and objectives.
      2. Identify areas for improvement and drive process optimization initiatives.
      3. Along with CEO, CFO, and VP, Finance, monitor the financial performance of the company, including budgeting, financial analysis, and cost control driving profitability and sustainable growth.
      4. Work closely with Center of Excellence (CoE) leads in the preparation of annual business plans and budgets; review, approve and monitor execution throughout year.
    • Technology and Innovation
      1. Promote the adoption of advanced technologies and innovative practices to enhance efficiency and competitiveness in the industry.
      2. Develop and implement systems and standardization practices where appropriate to streamline processes and eliminate non-value-added tasks. 
      3. Lead efforts to select, optimize, and integrate enterprise resource planning (ERP) and customer relationship management (CRM) systems.
    • Compliance and Regulation
      1. Ensure the company’s compliance with industry standards, regulations, and legal requirements.
      2. Develop and maintain standard contract templates; implement standardized review and approval process for use of non-standard contracts.
    • Resource Management:
      1. Efficiently allocate resources including staff, technology, and equipment to maximize productivity and profitability.
      2. Manage, control, and minimize operational expenses to improve firm profitability.
    • Team Leadership:
      • Build and lead a high-performing operations team, providing mentorship and guidance to team members; foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement within the group.
      • Work collaboratively with other departments to support and achieve company goals.
      • Develop and maintain career pathing strategies for junior-, mid-, and senior-level employees.
    • Mergers and Acquisitions:
      1. Along with CEO, CFO and VP, Finance, evaluate potential mergers and acquisitions, identify potential acquisition targets, conduct due diligence and analysis.
    • Risk Management
      • Identify and mitigate operational risks and challenges that may impact project delivery or overall business.
      • Participate in annual property and casualty insurance renewal process.
      • Implement appropriate management controls to ensure visibility and acceptance of risk at appropriate level of company. 
    • Communications:
      • Collaborate with directors, project managers and/or other senior staff as required.
      • Prepare quarterly presentations for the leadership team and Board of Directors.
      • Collaborate with external consultants, partners, and vendors to support operational processing and reporting.
      • Develop standard operational reports and training for project managers.
    • Special Projects:
      • Undertake special projects as needed, such as cost reduction initiatives, system implementation, or company restructuring.

     

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in business administration, engineering, organizational management, or related field; master’s degree preferred.
    • Proven executive-level leadership experience with a track record of success in project management, program management, and operations; A/E/C industry experience preferred.
    • Strong financial and business acumen with experience managing budgets and financial performance.
    • Knowledge of A/E/C industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
    • Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) experience; Unanet A/E experience preferred.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams)
    • Excellent leadership and management skills.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
