Chief Nurse Anesthetist jobs in Maine
Chief Nurse Anesthetist manages and schedules Nurse Anesthetists who plan, arrange and secure necessary anesthesia equipment. Aids Anesthesiologist in organizing courses of instruction for students, and partakes in resulting programs and demonstrations. Being a Chief Nurse Anesthetist prepares reports and compiles data dealing with specific anesthesia, drugs and techniques, and patients' reactions to them. Requires a master's degree. Additionally, Chief Nurse Anesthetist requires Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA). Requires Registered Nurse (RN). Requires Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Chief Nurse Anesthetist typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Chief Nurse Anesthetist typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. This position is responsible for the quality of patient care and insures that sufficient and properly prepared personnel carry out all nursing functions. Is knowledgeable about social, economic and legal issues affecting the healthcare system and seeks opportunities for keeping staff up-to-date in healthcare practices. Develops awareness of, directs implementation of and ensures compliance with Standards of Nursing Practice that promote optimum health care delivery. This is a high visibility position that may require use of Universal Blood and Body Fluid Precautions.- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with current licensure as a registered nurse in the state of Maine
- Bachelor of science in nursing
- Five years of recent clinical experience including two years of supervisory experience
- ANA certification is desirable
- Ability to walk and stand the majority of each work day
- Ability to speak and hear clearly along with good visual acuity
