Chief Nuclear Medicine Technologist provides administrative oversight for the nuclear medical technology department of a hospital. Reviews, develops and implements technical policies and procedures to ensure efficiency, quality and compliance with all regulatory requirements. Being a Chief Nuclear Medicine Technologist supervises nuclear medicine technologists, and may perform the functions of a technologist as needed. Ensures proper usage, maintenance and updates of medical equipment. Additionally, Chief Nuclear Medicine Technologist requires a bachelor's degree. Requires American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Certification. Typically requires Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) Certification. Typically reports to a director. The Chief Nuclear Medicine Technologist manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Chief Nuclear Medicine Technologist typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1-3 years supervisory experience may be required.     As a nuclear medicine technologist, you'll prepare patients for testing by administering radioactive drugs. Working under the supervision of a physician at a hospital, physician's office, diagnostic lab or imaging center, you'll help patients understand the procedure, prep and deliver radioactive drugs, operate equipment, keep records and more. You'll play an important role in helping patients and providers get the answers they need.

    Minimum Requirements

    • At least 1 year of recent experience in relevant setting and specialty
    • ARRT/NMTCB Certification
    • BLS Certification (AHA)
    • Current state license (if applicable)
