Being a Chief Medical Technologist verifies accuracy and validity of test results. Instructs trainees in procedures and techniques of performing tests. Additionally, Chief Medical Technologist requires a bachelor's degree. Requires professional certification. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Chief Medical Technologist manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Chief Medical Technologist typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required. Our Medical Laboratory Scientists / Medical Technologists examine and analyze body fluids, tissues and cells; and identify potentially harmful microorganisms. They perform quality checks on various instruments following establish procedures. A bachelor’s degree in CLIA approved sciences from an accredited institution and national certification are required. The position is responsible to the Clinical Laboratory Manager.
