Chief Medical Librarian (MLS) manages daily planning, operations, and staff of a medical library to meet the information needs of users. Oversees professional and support staff involved in cataloging, indexing, issuing books/materials, and keeping records of items on loan. Being a Chief Medical Librarian (MLS) selects books and publications for purchase and subscribes to pertinent periodicals as allowed for by the given budget. Responds to more complex requests from faculty, medical staff, and students. Additionally, Chief Medical Librarian (MLS) possess broad and current knowledge of medical developments and scientific literature. Requires a master's degree in library science. Typically reports to a director. The Chief Medical Librarian (MLS) manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Chief Medical Librarian (MLS) typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Full-time; Cooper Clinic. We are currently seeking a Medical Technologist who will be responsible for routine chemical, hematologic and other general laboratory tests, procedures. The Medical Technologist draws blood, collects, processes and stores specimens.


    Medical Technologist Schedule: FT- Monday - Friday


    Medical Technologist Essential Duties & Responsibilities

    • Operates and conducts performance checks on clinical laboratory equipment.
    • Must be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of laboratory techniques.
    • Performs and reviews quality controls in testing.
    • Maintain records for Quality Assurance.
    • Performs instrument maintenance
    • Must be able to follow all laboratory procedures.
    • Must be able to satisfactorily operate, maintain and troubleshoot a variety of laboratory equipment.
    • Must be able to identify and appropriately address problems adversely affecting test results.
    • Must be able to maintain accurate records, follow oral and written instructions, and communicate effectively with various personnel and staff.
    • Must be able to use laboratory and clinic computer systems appropriately to accomplish assigned work.
    • Draws blood
    • Collects and processes specimens
    • Other duties as assigned


    Requirements

    The ideal Medical Technologist candidate will possess:

    • Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology/Medical Laboratory Science or a related science field.
    • Certification by one of the following: Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Medical Technologist (MT) - American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Medical Technologist (MT)- Department of Health Services (HHS) formally (HEW) Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Medical Technologist (MT) - American Medical Technologist (AMT)
    • 5 years of related medical technology experience.
    • Ability to use education, experience and analytical judgement to perform testing in a prompt efficient and accurate manner
    • Generalist with Chemistry experience a plus.
    • Perform basic computer skills with general knowledge and understanding of laboratory test ordering and resulting processes.
    • Process good verbal and written communication skills
    • Maintain a professional attitude and appearance
