  • Missoula, MT FULL_TIME
  • Are We the Place for You?

The Montana Educators’ Credit Union ($27M; Missoula, MT) is growing and in need of a Lending Officer to guide the credit union’s lending function. This role will play a critical part in the growth of the credit union and in helping fulfill its mission of superior member service.

For nearly three decades, Montana Educators’ Credit Union (or MECU) has remained committed to its membership, offering the best in financial products and services. Originally chartered to serve educators, MECU now proudly extends eligibility to all residents of Missoula, Granite, Lake, Mineral, Ravalli, and Sanders Counties. MECU is big enough to provide members with the same consumer products as larger institutions, but small enough to know our members and their specific needs. MECU is committed to the credit union movement philosophy of “People Helping People.” At MECU, the focus is the member, and we will use our resources to benefit them and the communities we serve.

Is This the Career for You?

As the Lending Officer, you will be responsible for the lending function of the credit union, and report directly to the MECU Vice President. Some of your responsibilities will include managing the day-to-day operations and performance of the lending portfolio, which is 60% real estate secured. The Lending Officer will originate, process, and underwrite loans. You will also work in conjunction with local auto dealerships and mortgage brokers.

The Lending Officer will ensure an effective and efficient review process of loan applications by establishing loan policies, procedures, and external regulatory and statutory compliance requirements while working within an approved credit authority. The Lending Officer will generate and review loan performance reports to achieve organizational goals. As the primary lending personnel, the Lending Officer will also need to update and implement policies as needed.

The Lending Officer should be well-versed in branch operations, as they may occasionally be called on to assist in other services and frontline activities.

Help Us Get to Know You

Qualified candidates will have 5 years of consumer lending experience, including real estate lending and collections work. They should be up to date on regulatory and compliance issues within these areas. Candidates should embrace the credit union’s philosophy of “people helping people.” A bachelor’s degree is preferred, but not required. Include a resume that shows your experience in lending operations.
