    Location: This position will be domiciled the Truman Office.

    This position will travel extensively across the state 10-20% of the time.

    What you’ll do:

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.

    • In cooperation with the Cybersecurity team within the Information Technology Services Division (ITSD) of the Office of Administration, develop, maintain, and manage information security policies and procedures designed to protect personally identifiable information for which the DHEWD has responsibility
    • Leads the information security function across the department to ensure consistent and high-quality information security management in support of business goals.
    • Update and maintain the DHEWD “Red Flag Policy”
    • Ensure the secure attainment, processing, and storage of sensitive data exchanged by the DHEWD with our partners and customers
    • Monitors the external threat environment for emerging threats, and advises staff and relevant stakeholders on the appropriate courses of action.
    • Maintain a working knowledge of federal and state information security requirements and best practices pertaining to both computing and overall information security
    • Routinely interact with both external and internal stakeholders and conduct staff training regarding information security policies and procedures
    • Maintain a working knowledge of DHEWD computer systems and databases, with particular attention to those related to the student loan program and remaining up to date on technological standards relevant to the student loan industry and communicating with external system providers and industry peer groups
    • Act as “gatekeeper” for access to student loan related systems and software
    • Partner with all areas of the department to communicate the importance of strong programs, work to develop solutions to achieve department objectives, and incorporate security into how DHEWD does business
    • Work to promote communication on information technology initiatives and projects between DHEWD and ITSD
    • Perform other related work as assigned
    • Demonstrate regular and reliable attendance

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor’s degree in, Computer Science, , Information Systems, or other related program and at least two years of professional experience
    • Additional years of professional experience may be accepted as satisfying some of the educational qualification
    • An advanced degree may substitute for one year of professional experience
    • Holding or progression towards one of the following Information Security certifications is preferred:
      • CISSP – Certified Information Systems Security Professional
      • CISM – Certified Information Security manager,
      • CISA - Certified Information Security Auditor,
      • Or, upon approval, other Information Security certifications
    • Knowledge of National Institute of Standards & Technology Special Publications (i.e. NIST SP 800-53 Rev. 4) is preferred
    • Detailed knowledge of security systems such as anti-virus, firewall intrusion detection, proxy server, VPN, vulnerability assessment systems, etc.
    • Understanding of today’s threat landscape and information security architectures, as well as applicable laws, regulations and compliance frameworks
    • An understanding of the Federal Information Security Management Act is preferred
