Chief Helicopter Pilot partners with general aviation management to establish and implement operating policies and procedures for helicopter pilots. Ensures flights are operated in compliance with all applicable FAA regulations. Being a Chief Helicopter Pilot schedules flight personnel, maintenance and maintains flight records. Assumes flight duty. Additionally, Chief Helicopter Pilot has all required licenses and meets flying time requirements. Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Requires Commercial Pilot license for helicopters - CPL(H). Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Chief Helicopter Pilot manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Supervises the training and onboarding of Mercy Flight staff. Stays current in evidence based practices and works in tandem with the program Medical Director to review protocols and their adherence within the electronic health record. Works in collaboration with the leadership of the service line to create a professional practice environment that focuses on the needs of both staff and customers. Supports performance improvement activities within the department and assists with daily operations of the service line.

Bachelors preferred
Five years critical care experience
Current with the following items: BLS; ACLS; PALS; ENPC; TNCC, ATCN, or TPATC (at least one of these, with TPATC preferred); NRP
Certified Flight Registered Nurse certification or eligibility within 1 year of hire / Flight Paramedic Certified or eligibility within 1 year of hire / Certified in Respiratory Therapy
