Chief Helicopter Pilot partners with general aviation management to establish and implement operating policies and procedures for helicopter pilots. Ensures flights are operated in compliance with all applicable FAA regulations. Being a Chief Helicopter Pilot schedules flight personnel, maintenance and maintains flight records. Assumes flight duty. Additionally, Chief Helicopter Pilot has all required licenses and meets flying time requirements. Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Requires Commercial Pilot license for helicopters - CPL(H). Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Chief Helicopter Pilot manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Chief Helicopter Pilot typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Key Responsibilities:

    Conducting Pre-Flight Checks: Perform thorough pre-flight inspections to ensure the helicopter is in optimal condition and all systems are functioning properly. This includes checking fuel levels, instruments, controls, and overall airworthiness.

    Ensuring Passenger Safety: Prioritize the safety of passengers by adhering to all aviation regulations, operating procedures, and safety protocols. Maintain constant vigilance during flight to identify and mitigate any potential risks or hazards.

    Providing Exceptional Customer Service: Welcome passengers aboard the helicopter, make them feel comfortable, and deliver a warm and informative pre-flight briefing. Throughout the tour, provide engaging commentary, answer questions, and ensure passengers have a memorable and enjoyable experience.

    Operating the Helicopter: Safely operate the helicopter during takeoff, flight, and landing, showcasing skillful piloting techniques. Demonstrate a smooth and stable flight, adjusting speed and altitude as necessary to optimize passenger experience and maintain safety standards.

    Navigating and Route Planning: Familiarize yourself with the designated tour routes and landmarks, providing passengers with interesting facts and stories during the flight. Plan flight paths to maximize scenic views and highlight points of interest.

    Monitoring Weather Conditions: Continuously monitor weather conditions, including wind speed, visibility, and precipitation, to make informed decisions regarding flight safety. Be prepared to modify or cancel tours if weather conditions pose a risk.

    Maintaining Documentation: Complete flight logs, records, and any necessary paperwork accurately and promptly. Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements related to flight operations and passenger documentation.

    Collaborating with Ground Crew: Communicate effectively with ground crew members to coordinate tour schedules, passenger logistics, and any necessary maintenance or repairs.

    Qualifications and Skills:

    • Hold a valid commercial helicopter pilot's license with the necessary ratings and endorsements.
    • MUST HAVE Robinson R44 Time
    • Possess a minimum number of flight hours, as required by aviation regulations.
    • Strong knowledge of aviation regulations, safety procedures, and emergency protocols.
    • Excellent flying skills, including takeoffs, landings, and maneuvering in various weather conditions.
    • Exceptional communication and customer service skills, with the ability to engage and entertain passengers.
    • Good problem-solving abilities and the capacity to make sound decisions under pressure.
    • Attention to detail and a strong commitment to safety.
    • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, to accommodate the demands of the tour schedule.
