The two REITs are Sterling Multifamily Trust (SMFT) and Sterling Office & Industrial Trust (SOIT). SMFT is a $1.2B REIT specializing in multifamily property that is publicly reporting but privately traded. SOIT is a $300M REIT that is privately traded and is not publicly reporting.
Goldmark Property Management, AMO, is professional multifamily property management firm founded in 1981. It currently manages over 16,000 apartments in four states. SMFT is its largest client, though it has a number of property owners it manages for.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
The ideal candidate is a motivated, high-capacity servant leader committed to achieving consistent high level financial and customer service performance serving the company’s shareholders and property owner clients. The position will require strong mental acuity and a broad set of skills ranging from team building and support, to problem-solving, to SEC reporting competency.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES TO ACHIEVE SUCCESS
The Chief Financial Officer will be responsible for achieving success in the areas of Financial Strategy and Planning, Team Leadership and Development, Financial Reporting and Analysis, Compliance and Regulatory Reporting, Stakeholder Engagement and Communication, and Operational Efficiency and Cost Control.
Financial Strategy and Planning
Lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive financial strategy to support the company's ambitious objectives, including detailed forecasting, comprehensive budgeting, sophisticated financial modeling, and driving the attainment of financial targets in alignment with overarching business goals.
Team Leadership and Development
Provide visionary leadership to the finance and accounting team, fostering a culture of excellence, continuous professional development, and driving employee retention and growth initiatives in line with strategic objectives, while enhancing team performance.
Financial Reporting and Analysis
Ensure timely and precise financial reporting, providing in-depth analyses to support strategic business decisions. Communicate financial insights transparently and effectively to stakeholders, upholding the integrity and clarity of financial reporting and analysis.
Compliance and Regulatory Reporting
Continue the company’s track record of timely and accurate SEC and related financial reporting and compliance in concert with external auditors, tax advisors, and other partners. Maintain appropriate internal controls and effective risk management practices.
Stakeholder Engagement and Communication
Effectively communicate financial performance results and strategies to the internal team as well as to lenders, shareholders, and board members. Foster relationships with financial institutions and key stakeholders to ensure high satisfaction. , Lead strategic financial initiatives and support periodic shareholder offerings.
Operational Efficiency and Cost Control
Oversee and optimize financial operational efficiencies in concert with other company executives to maximize revenues and achieve best practices excellence in expense management for each REIT, managed property, as well as internally.
