Chief Financial Officer - St. Louis MO (in-office)

Plaintiff law firm seeks a strategic Chief Financial Officer with multistate leadership experience and proven success growing professional services businesses.

The CFO will interact closely with and provide decision-making support to members of the executive ownership team. He or she will oversee a small team responsible for Accounting and Finance, Financial Controls, Reporting and Budgeting, implementing efficiencies and improving financial processes to fully utilize available technology and streamline reporting processes.

Strategic Planning / Analysis 

• Develop an innovative financial vision for this multistate organization, providing advice on the financial implications of business activities
• Identify needs and seek a full range of business solutions, providing strategic and proactive leadership, implementing best practices for financial technology systems, designing process improvements and utilizing best practices for financial reporting and presentations
• Ensure sound financial strategies are developed and maintained by forecasting capital, facilities, and staffing requirements, tracking and monitoring cash flow and cash forecasting
• Mentor, develop and manage a team, overseeing work allocation, systems training, performance evaluations and the building of an effective and efficient team dynamic

Financial Reporting / Accounting 

• Manage the accounting, tax, and treasury functions, and ensure compliance with all state and federal regulatory laws and rules including US GAAP
• Develop and create financial management reports, and other tools to facilitate budgeting and forecasting processes and monitor financial performance by measuring and analyzing results
• Work with Marketing leadership to forecast, plan and analyze the budget, implementing KPIs and measuring results to provide accurate and detailed ROI analysis reports
• Foster relationships with external business partners, i.e., lenders, vendors, surety and other external professional associates

Risk Management 

• Ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory and GAAP requirements
• Assist, as needed, in the placement and /or negotiations of corporate insurance contracts and maintain up to date knowledge of cybersecurity issues and potential impacts on business flow

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Accounting or Finance
• CPA or CMA preferred
• 7 years of financial leadership experience
• 5 years of legal, law firm or professional services industry experience
