    Dartmouth Health is pleased to announce a national search for the Chief Executive Officer of Mt. Ascutney Hospital and Health Center in Windsor, Vermont and Valley Regional Hospital in Claremont, New Hampshire.

     

    Mt. Ascutney Hospital and Health Center (MAHHC) and Valley Regional Healthcare (VRH) are separate not-for-profit critical access hospitals. MAHHC is a member of the Dartmouth Health System, and it is expected that VRH will become a member of the Dartmouth Health System in July 2024. The organizations are to be led by a single President and CEO and mirror Boards of Trustees.

     

    MAHHC and VRH are seeking an inspirational and innovative leader who is able to foster program development and sustainable growth. The successful candidate will be an effective organizational strategist with a track record of accomplishing big goals and maintaining positive relationships with community partners and local media. The leader should be able to develop critical trust with the hospitals’ provider teams and be committed to developing a diverse culture of inclusion and belonging for patients and staff alike. Strong financial acumen, a track record with philanthropy, and experience implementing impactful quality, safety, and financial improvements are all vital to this role.

     

    About Mt. Ascutney Hospital and Health Center:

     

    Mt. Ascutney Hospital and Health Center is a 35-bed critical access hospital serving the central Vermont towns of Windsor and Woodstock and surrounding communities. MAHHC provides primary care, specialty services, a therapeutic pool, and an Acute Rehabilitation Center. This Center is the only facility in northern New England to be CARF-accredited in inpatient, outpatient, and stroke rehabilitation programs. MAHHC was recently recognized with a Press Ganey Human Experience Guardian of Excellence Award, recognizing the top 5% of healthcare organizations in patient experience, employee engagement, physician engagement, or clinical quality performance.

     

    About Valley Regional Hospital:

     

    Valley Regional Healthcare is a 25-bed critical access hospital serving the healthcare needs of the Greater Claremont community. It is home to emergency and urgent care services, primary care, comprehensive rehabilitation services, and a variety of specialty services including general surgery, infusion therapies, and oncology. The staff at Valley Regional have served our community for more than 130 years with top-notch, accessible care when they need it most.  Valley Regional recently received a 5 star quality ranking from Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).

    About the job:

    The CEO of Mt. Ascutney Hospital and Health Center and Valley Regional Healthcare is responsible for managing and directing the organizations in accordance with their missions, visions, and values and will serve as an ex-officio member of the MAHHC and VRH Boards of Trustees. The CEO will provide leadership and direction for the organizations’ continued integration into the Dartmouth Health system, promoting a system-wide focus and an atmosphere of “oneness” to advance the Dartmouth Health mission and ensure system objectives are met and quality healthcare services are delivered in a cost-effective and efficient manner for the communities served.

     

    The CEO establishes current and long-range objectives, plans, and policies; provides leadership across the spectrum of diverse organizational operations and strategic initiatives including those focused on creating a culture of patient safety and ensuring quality care and service/population health; ensures regulatory and legal compliance for the organization and effective financial stewardship, people management, board governance, development, physician relations, system member relations, and community relations; and provides guidance, direction and authorization to ensure successful implementation of major initiatives, including appropriate accountability to ensure the expectations of the organization are achieved.

     

    Minimum qualifications:

    Qualified candidates will hold a master’s degree or higher in health administration, public health, or a related field. They may possess a physician or other clinician credential and associated license to practice, but this is not required.

     

    Candidates must possess a minimum of 7-10 years of experience in executive-level healthcare leadership. Experience in a non-profit organization and critical access hospital environment is preferred. Experience in a complex system with both ambulatory and acute functions is valuable.
