    Responsibilities

    Eastman Specialties Corporation, a global, medium-sized manufacturer of performance chemicals has an excellent opportunity for an Electrical and Instrumentation Technician to work in our Chestertown, Maryland manufacturing plant.

    JOB SUMMARY

    The Electrical Technician is responsible for the maintenance and repair of industrial equipment to ensure safe and reliable operations. The person in this position must be able to respond to call-outs and have flexibility to work overtime. This positionworks primarily within one of the below specialized skills but will be required to perform some lesser work involved. Work is performed both indoors and outdoors in both hot and cold temperature extremes.This position is not eligible for relocation.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities (may perform other duties not listed):

    • Duties include installing, inspecting, maintaining, operating, troubleshooting, repairing, and calibrating various mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical and electronic equipment.
    • Perform preventative maintenance checks on electrical and instrumentation components on pumps, compressors, drivers, and auxiliary equipment.
    • PerformInspection and Maintenance checks on all control systems.
    • Identify, report, and correct safety and environmental concerns.
    • Perform all work in compliance with Company standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
    • Demonstrate performance toward operational excellence.
    • Participates in Team meetings and activities.
    • Mentor fellow employees when the opportunity presents itself.
    • Oversee the construction and/or maintenance activities performed by third parties.
    • Stay up to date on E&I Qualifications and required training.
    • Works from blueprints, line diagrams, wiring schematics, written specifications, sketches, and oral instructions.
    • Makes repairs using reference material and prior experience without specific instruction.
    • Utilizes "state of the art" testing and measurement equipment.
    • Uses available tools and equipment to lift and/or transport heavy loads.
    • Observes maintenance procedures and keeps all tools in good working condition.
    • Uses computers to order parts, plan and schedule work, record equipment history, and retrieve information.
    • Performs work at elevated locations and in confined spaces.
    • Communicates effectively in order to perform essential functions of the job.
    • Follows all Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) requirements and other safety procedures outlined in the Safe Practice Manual and Emergency Plan, including evacuation if appropriate.
    • Performs other related duties as designated by supervision.
    Qualifications

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • 2-5 years of Electrical experience working in an industrial, residential, military, construction or other technical environment
    • A working knowledge of the following is preferred
      • Handling hazardous materials
      • Completing a lock-out/tag-out process
      • Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)
    • Experience with the following is preferred:
      • Rebuilding pumps and motors
      • Reading blueprints, wiring schematics
      • Precision measuring
    • Familiarity with basic computer functions such asOutlook e-mail, Excel and Word
    • Must be able to perform the essential elements of the positionwith or without reasonable accommodations
    • Must follow all safety procedures
    • Must wear company-provided personal protective equipment at alltimes in designated areas as required
    • Overtime is required along with the ability to be on call in a rotation within department
    • Have a strong work ethic, demonstrating both initiative and professional attitude
    • Must have clear, concise verbal and written communication skills
    • Must be able to apply mechanical fundamentals to properly operate/maintain the performance of the equipment within area of responsibility

    Education Requirements:

    • High School Diploma or GED
    • Technical certification or degree is a plus
    • Must be at least 18 years of age
    • Must have valid driver's license
    • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
    • Must speak, read, and write English proficiently
    • Must pass background check, physical and drug screen
