Chemical Technician determines the physical and chemical properties of compounds and materials using quantitative and qualitative chemical analysis. Performs a variety of chemical tests using instrumental methods and standard test equipment. Being a Chemical Technician prepares materials for laboratory examination and conducts quality, safety, and compliance assessments. Follows established SOPs. Additionally, Chemical Technician sets up and maintains lab equipment. Records and tabulates data and documents observations and results. Requires an associate degree in chemistry, science or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Chemical Technician works under moderate supervision. As a Gas or Chemical Technician, you must demonstrate technical knowledge, good judgment and skills associated with assigned duties. Your, judgment and skills associated with the assigned duties at this level require an extensive understanding of systems/equipment associated with MTV’s Gasses and Chemical. As a Chemical or Gas Technician you will be required to work with and support team members on routine tasks. You are also required to use your troubleshooting skills to identify/resolve maintenance issues, cost savings, and safety hazards. You will be asked to perform independent projects to resolve technical problems with little supervision while demonstrating the site core values. Your training and learning of group procedures and job responsibilities will be directed to you under the guidance of a Supervisor or experienced team mate.
Responsibilities and Tasks
GENERAL
-Adhere to all site standards for safety, environment, security, quality and housekeeping.
-Perform safety analyses (JHA) as needed.
-Monitor TRAIN profile staying current with Certifications and Re-certifications.
-Maintain computer proficiency in using Microsoft products (Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet Explorer, and InfoPath), SAP, Ariba, Matreq and Train.
-Complete daily Maximo tasks such as entries into work order log of work performed, changing work order status as required, daily time sheet entries and verifying work order is assigned to the correct FPM.
-Complete accurate time accountability and record in SAP.
-Keep Supervisor informed regarding progress of assigned work as appropriate -Play an active role in safety, actively participating in safety discussion, training and safe work practices.
-Play a lead role while working with other team members on tasks or projects -Assist in training junior level employees.
-Ensure the shop and other work areas are clean and orderly.
-Research and orders necessary parts through ordering system (e.g., MATREQ, Ariba).
ENVIRONMENTAL, HEALTH, SAFETY AND SECURITY
-Follow all safety and environmental procedures to ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
-Be an active participant in the EHSS program by reporting all EHSS-related concerns or problems immediately to the appropriate individual (ERT, Supervision, etc.) -Be proactive in reducing incidents of personal injuries, safety hazards or environmental releases.
TECHNICAL
-Have functional knowledge of facilities gas and or chemical systems and associated equipment.
-Prioritize tasks effectively and completes assigned duties in a timely manner.
-Perform routine and intermediate troubleshooting and accurately diagnose gas or chemical equipment and systems.
-Perform routine repairs, rebuilds or replacement of gas or chemical equipment and systems.
-Use standard electrical and electronic diagnostic equipment and precision measuring tools.
