Chemical Technician determines the physical and chemical properties of compounds and materials using quantitative and qualitative chemical analysis. Performs a variety of chemical tests using instrumental methods and standard test equipment. Being a Chemical Technician prepares materials for laboratory examination and conducts quality, safety, and compliance assessments. Follows established SOPs. Additionally, Chemical Technician sets up and maintains lab equipment. Records and tabulates data and documents observations and results. Requires an associate degree in chemistry, science or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Chemical Technician works under moderate supervision. Experience Requirements: Two years of experience in maintaining mechanical and electrical equipment in a manufacturing environment.
Training Required: Proven knowledge and ability in mechanical and electrical repair, plus at least two of the following: basic electronic repair, basic welding, basic hydraulic repair, basic pneumatic repair. Commitment to continue training and education to improve maintenance skills. On-the-job training.
Basic Abilities: Good mechanical and electrical ability. Must be able to make necessary repairs on plant equipment. Good eye and hand coordination. Must write legible. Squat and lift fifty pounds. Must be proficient in reading a tape measure.
