Chemical Engineer conducts research and development projects involving the study of chemical reactions and material properties to innovate and develop new products or optimize existing products. Designs experiments and builds prototypes and models used to investigate and support the development of improved chemicals, materials, products, and manufacturing processes. Being a Chemical Engineer compiles and analyzes testing data. Presents research results used to estimate costs, establish performance standards, identify solutions, and facilitate processes. Additionally, Chemical Engineer maintains lab and plant safety procedures for chemical storage, handling, transport, and disposal. Complies with all safety and environmental regulations. Requires a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering. Typically reports to a manager. The Chemical Engineer work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. FutureFuel Chemical Company in Batesville, Arkansas, is looking for a new member for our Process Engineering Team. Candidates must have a BS or MS in Chemical Engineering from an ABET accredited engineering school and the preferred candidate would have 5 years’ experience in a chemical manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate would have direct experience with project or process engineering support for batch or continuous chemical production.Responsibilities:· Works to provide technical assistance, process improvement, and manufacturing support for chemical production.· Works to develop and prioritize process improvement needs.· Works to develop, implement, and support new processes for the site.· Troubleshoots and identifies root causes of operational problems using data analysis.· Serves as project coordinator for new process implementation.· Provides cost estimates to determine feasibility of business development plans.· Determines most effective arrangement of operations such as mixing, crushing, heat transfer, distillation, and drying.· Performs tests and monitor performance of processes throughout stages of production to determine degree of control over variables such as temperature, density, specific gravity, and pressure.· Designs and plans layout of equipment.· Designs measurement and control systems for chemical plants based on data collected in laboratory experiments and in pilot plant operations.· Works in teams or independently to increase production capacity, improve product yield, provide safer operations, or reduce energy requirements.· Applies sound process economics analysis principles to determine and document project values.· Maintains awareness and ties to corporate technology and engineering resources to help implement projects.· Assists with definition and implementation of capital projects that will result in process improvements or increased capacity.· Manages several projects simultaneously and regularly communicates progress to stakeholders.· Follows safety and quality procedures.· Able to communicate with employees in any role group, as well as outside customers.FutureFuel Chemical Company is a growing Specialty and Bio-based Chemical Manufacturing facility with an exceptional safety and environmental history.
