Chemical Dependency Director directs chemical dependency and substance abuse treatment and recovery programs. Leads, supports, and develops care team members.     DEPARTMENT: Operations

    JOB TITLE: Swing Shift Chemical Dependency Technician

    SUPERVISOR: Clinical Director

    GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Assists the clinical staff with the treatment program and acts as liaison to the client community, ensures adherence to rules governing treatment and attendance at all scheduled events. Supervises client in compliance with residential program rules and guidelines.

    QUALIFICATIONS: A high school diploma or GED required; college-level coursework in health or social services field preferred. RADT certification/registration is preferred. Prior experience in group home or behavioral health facility is preferred. Previous experience in substance abuse treatment program preferred.

    CORE COMPETENCIES/DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    • Assist in admitting and orienting new clients.
    • Search incoming client’s luggage, removes unauthorized items and stores it for evaluation by the Operation Manager, delivers luggage to assigned room.
    • Assist in explaining expectations, policies and procedures to clients.
    • Ensure clients attend all scheduled sessions throughout the day and evening, keeps and files attendance records.
    • Assist clinical team with facilitating groups, giving assignments to clients.
    • Assist monitoring client’s self-administration of medication as scheduled to ensure clients take medication as prescribed, and document.
    • Oversee client’s use of telephones.
    • Monitor visitation on Family Weekend.
    • Drive van as necessary to transport clients, pick-up medications and/or materials.
    • Observation of client’s during specimen collection for drug testing according to protocols.
    • Perform daily scheduled rounds of the building and grounds, assures client are in assigned buildings at all times.
    • Observe and supervise clients and the physical grounds to assure client safety and security.
    • Assists clinical staff in crisis prevention and/or crisis intervention, in supervising client fire drills, emergencies or disasters.
    • Read and sign logbook during shift, makes notes as appropriate and provides input during staff meetings.
    • Attend all in-services training's provided by Bella Monte Recovery Center or outside agencies as required.
    • Ensure client safety and security by monitoring clients.
    • Document, log and report as necessary any significant incidents involving clients care and safety.
    • Comply with all Bella Monte Recovery Center’s policies, procedures, rules, regulations and protocols.
    • Keep work area clean and neat.
    • Assist Clinical staff as necessary.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs):

    • Ability to enforce policies and procedures in a fair and firm manner.
    • Ability to write legible, concise notes.
    • Skill in dealing with colleagues as a team member and interacting well with others.
    • Ability to operate motor vehicles. Must have a valid California driver’s license, and be approved to drive Bella Monte Recovery Center vehicles.
    • Knowledge of 12-step support groups and principles.
    • Knowledge of pharmacology related to chemical dependency and its treatment.
    • Ability to speak English clearly and give and follow simple instructions.
    • Ability to recognize the importance of adapting to the various ethnic groups.
    • Skill in communicating effectively, both orally and in writing.
    • Skill in taking vital signs, observing client’s medical conditions and withdrawal symptoms.
    • Ability to adhere to safety policies and procedures.
    • Ability to use good judgment and maintain confidentiality of information.
    • Skill and ability to demonstrate tact, resourcefulness, patience, and dedication.
    • Ability to accept direction and adhere to policies and procedures.
    • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Light work, sitting, writing, walking, bending, lifting and carrying items weighing up to 40 pounds, climbing and descending stairs. Reasonable accommodations may be made to disabled persons upon request.
